i yield to nobody in my appreciation of maggody. i have fallen off my sofa laughing at the antics of maggodians and at arly's patient exasperation with them. but in this book i sense that joan hess is reaching a bit. there's a coarseness in the language, which hasn't been subjected to f-bombs in the past. it's disappointing that arly finds herself pregnant (i'm not giving anything away - it's not a secret; we're told on page one). she doesn't know what to do about it and i suspect neither does joan hess. altogether a bit of a let-down.....
