This is an amazing book, even if the film a few years back failed to capture the magic of the story. This book is often used in Children's Literature courses, and is also used in grief counseling for children. It has much to offer on many different levels.

Winnie is a girl who finds a family who lives in the woods, and they drank from a well that makes you immortal and they can't get older or die and they are bored! Was I the only kid who was forced to read this in 5th grade?

This is an amazing book, even if the film a few years back failed to capture the magic of the story. This book is often used in Children's Literature courses, and is also used in grief counseling for children. It has much to offer on many different levels.

The Tucks have a secret, and their secret can either be seen as a blessing or a curse. The Tucks drank from a magic spring and now they cannot die. Young Winnie Foster finds out their secret and so the Tucks take her home to try and explain the secret and the importance of keeping it. Yet now the town is in an uproar looking for the Tucks, and the family needs Winnie's help.

The writing is excellent, and the story will keep you turning the pages. If you are looking for a book for yourself or to read to children in your life, this is an excellent pick. Well written, with impeccable prose, you will not be disappointed.

I read this book in college for one of my children's literature classes and I loved it. I ended up reading it ot a group of eight year olds too and they were interested in it the entire time. I think it does a wonderful job of explaining death and I think it's just a great book overall. The movie is great too.

When having a normal life and not knowing what age you stop at when drinking from a magic spring and staying the same age for eternal life and never die, the Tuck family wander about trying to live as comfortably as they can. When a ten-year-old girl name Winnie Froster stumbles on their secret, the Tucks take Winnie home and explain to her about living forever at one age is less a blessing than it might seem. A stranger who follows Winnie and the Tuck family home and hear's about a magic spring water than wants to market the spring water for a fortune.

The book is about a family of Tucks. They drank water from a tree that makes them live forever. They can't die. Then theres like this guy in a yellow suit who is trying to expose them and the water so he van make money for it. Then their is Winifred Foster. Fosters were rich. She didn't like her rich life because she was limited to many things. Then like one day in the woods when she got lost, she sees Jesse and he is drinking from the water and she wanted a drink. But Jesse didn't want her to drink the water. So him and his brother Miles takes her and she meets the Tucks and they tell her why she couldn't drink from it. So she becomes friends with the Tucks and stays with them for a while. Then Winifred(Winnie) falls in love with Jesse. Then they wind up running from the police for they are accused of kidnapping Winnie, and Jesses mom Mae killed the Man in the Yellow Suit. Jesse wants to marry later when like the things around them have cooled down. So she has to drink the water. But she never did marry him. She choose to have a better life. She married and had children then died of old age. I liked the whole book. It was very interesting and I didn't want to quit reading it. I would like to recommend the book to people. I didn't like the guy in the yellow suit because he kept on going in their business and got himself killed. I liked Winnie because she got to go on that adventure and had fun. All the characters are Winifred (Winnie) Foster~shes a rich girl who wants adventure. Robert Foster(dad)~is winnies rich father. Mother Foster~Winnies mom who wants everything perfect.Angus and Mae Tuck~ is Jesse and Miles mom and dad who wants what is best. Jesse~is adventurous and falls in love with Winnie. Miles is still depressed by what happened in the past. Man in the Yellow suit~ guy that is trying to expose the Tucks.
I liked the book because it was like an idea of how it would be like if we lived forever. I would like to tell other people to read it because it like a privilege to have a life.`

4.0 out of 5 stars A must read., May 19 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Tuck Everlasting (Paperback)
I believe Tuck Everlasting is a must read book. Especially if you love fantasy and a good story. I used this book for school and read a chapter a day. The thing that always upset me, was that the chapters were so short! I wanted to find out what happened next each time. I highly suggest this book to anyone who wants to read it.
