Not what I expected, Juil 26 2008
Coming from a man who won the Man Booker, I expected more than just the usual who-dunnit. This one is more like a drawing-room drama where everyone talks about the murder, but we never see any action. Black breaks the first rule of fiction: "show them, don't tell them". His novel (previously serialized in a New York newspaper, so it's not original material)is too static to stir up much interest, and the conclusion is rather obvious. Not a great book.
