4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and Thought Provoking
Guilty Wives by James Patterson and David Ellis

I have not read anything recently by either author so I can't judge this book by any past books of theirs. All I can say about Guilty Wives is `wow'. If anyone is looking for something that will keep your brain engaged and keep you on the edge of your seat, then I cannot recommend this book enough.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
Boring and not very well written. Lots of mistakes using a language the authors know nothing about. Shoud have it checked before publishing. Not worthy of David Ellis.

If just one tenth of what these authors wrote about Frances legal system is correct, then I have to really thank God for ours, no matter how it can seem unfair to some people at times. This was a very fast-paced novel written in the first person. Everything is seen through the eyes of Abbie Elliot and I think that this creates a wonderful tension throughout the entire book and especially through the courtroom scenes and her incarceration.

Abbie and her three close friends are going away for a girl's weekend in Monte Carlo. They are rich and very privileged women. They have also been somewhat mistreated by their husband's, and in one instance even abused, so that gives them a bit of leeway to act as they did when first arriving in Monte Carlo. In the first part of the book, leading up to their arrest and for even a time afterwards, you will not feel that you will ever come to like or sympathize with them. You may even feel contempt for them as I did, until the the horrors of what they are facing starts and the unspeakable happens. Now they are involved in a murder investigation and implicated in the murder of a high powered person, one I would never have thought to be in a position TO be murdered!

The fast pacing, wonderful descriptions and well-written trauma bring to life what is most likely every persons nightmare. Being thrust into a situation that you have no control over, being abused and kept helpless by some of the people that should be protecting you, people whom you've trusted, this is some of what these women faced.

I hate to use a cliché, but this was one heck of a gripping read. I could not put this book down and if it is any reflection at all of what Mr. Patterson and Mr. Ellis can accomplish together, then I hope they will collaborate again in the very near future.

1.0 out of 5 stars "Guilty" for falling for another Patterson "best seller", May 20 2012

By page 87 I knew this was an absurd book. Plot is over the top fiction, overwrought, would never happen and you have to suspend disbelief so much you may as well quit now. Gone are the glory days of Patterson with the "Kiss the Girls" books. Seems he now adds his name to anything. The book is only 400+ pages because the type is so large. At first I thought I had purchased the eyesight impaired edition. I skimmed over most of the book - especially the ludicrous courtroom drama and prison scenes. So stupid!

This book grabs you from the first chapter and holds on to you until the last. It is an amazing story line that pulls you through and leaves you wanting more. There are so many twists and turns that you don't see coming, and leave you spell bound. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, May 1 2013

I love a book that pulls you into the story with something different that stands out, and then keeps you wrapped in it with suspense and intrigue. This book did all that and more for me, and it was on audio.
Usually I have a hard time concentrating on the audio versions... call it short attention span... but this book held my attention from the start.
Great narrating, and love the use of french accents... so cute.
The drama and suspense pick up right away, I mean a woman may spend the rest of her life in jail... and the things she goes through, while remembering what her life was... how can you not get pulled in?!
Imagine how frightening it would be to be incarcerated in a foreign country. I know, right?!
I was surprised by the ending too.... definitely not how I thought it would turn out. Glad it did though, made it so much sweeter!
I definitely want to read this one again in print. It's worth it!

THIS BOOK MORE THAN MET MY EXPECTATIONS. IT WAS THE FIRST BOOK IN A LONG TIME WHERE I DID NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN. THE TWISTS AND TURNS KEPT ME IN SUSPENSE TO THE END. I REVIEWED THIS AT MY BOOK CLUB FOR OTHER MEMBERS TO READ. JAMES PATTERSON OUTDID HIMSELF WITH THIS ONE.
