While I have the complete Susan Branch collection and have loved her artwork and recipes for years, I must say that I was very disappointed in this particular book. The other books Heart of the Home, Vineyard Seasons, The Summer Book, and Christmas from the Heart of the Home, have a very homey, average-jane (that's me!), judeo-christian type tone to them. The recipes are great and there are wonderful "I-can-do-this" ideas for decorating, entertaining, celebrating, etc.

However, Girlfriends Forever, was a let down to me. I felt that this book was rife with New Age philosophies and Women First/feminist ideals, which as a Christian, just didn't sit right with me. I am disappointed that I paid money for this book and only keep it because my copy is personalized and autographed. (Susan Branch is a lovely woman, both inside and out, I was just disappointed with this work.)

As far as the recipes go, there isn't anything appealing in this book. That was a big surprise, too, since I use her other cookbooks on a daily basis. Maybe this one is just too healty for me-- and I live in Southern California!!

On the plus side, the artwork is wonderful, as usual and there are some good ideas regarding decorating and organizing. I particularly liked her meal planning ideas. But, the overall tone of the book was a disappointment to me.

This is a wonderful and uplifting book. It reminds one how important girlfriends are to each other. Susan did a great job exemplifying this.

This latest book celebrates the eternal bond of best friends. Oh, how I wish I had had her gumption to do the "wild things" she did (seems mighty tame by today's standards!). Again, a celebration! There is nothing more valuable than true friendship. This book delves into Susan's antics and also, shares some recipes that are actually "good for you" !?!?!? Susan has a way of reaching out and touching a familiar cord - you know - been there, done that or, I always wanted to do that!

A wonderful gift. Enjoy!

This is the book to read if you want to laugh and think and feel like you are lucky to be alive when you close it. It is a great gift for your friends. Susan Branch never disappoints.

I'm in the forties and thought "girlie-time is over" for me. But I realised that these things are eternal. Susan points out the substance of this quality, you can feel at any age, reminding me that "women-relationships" are important in my life. I made a list of women who inspire me in order not to forget keeping in contact with them in different ways. This book has also inspired my creativity and while reading I always think: "oh - I could do...".

I just purchased my 4th GIRLFRIENDS ARE FOREVER as a gift to a treasured friend. This book has something for everyone from little nostalgic stories to warm any heart - to tips on helping the spring birdies build their nests. A book that will truly please all age "best girlfriends!"

I am just a little girl of 13, and this just goes to show you, how Susan Branch, can rain on older women, middle aged women, young women, and little girls! (me, children!) I own three of Susan Branch's books, which consist of "Christmas Joy" "Love" and "Girlfriends Forever" (My personal favorite so far!) It has all of her stories, and it's all handmade with her beautiful artwork and handwritting! Even though Im too young to cook, I show my mama and papa, and we cook ALL her recipes! Yes, even the hard stuff! Susan Branch is like an angel! All of her things make you feel like your living in the country, in that lilac covered cottage, with bunnies hopping up the stairs, and quotes in frames over doorways. With dinner parties, quilts, and watercolors! Leaves, flowers, beaches, and snowstorms! Fireplaces, lemonade stands, and kittens! The land of Susan Branch, is somewhere, I travel alot, and I invite everyone to join me!

This is my favorite of Susan Branch's books. I bought one for each of my best "girlfriends" and I have told many about it. She is such an inspiration. There are great ideas on decorating, recipes, and entertaining. I especially loved the "Good Housekeeping" section.

Just received this book for my birthday from a good friend. Loved the Girl Talk section and the Girl Food section. Susan's books are so creative and sentimental.

What a joy to read this book! There is something wonderful for every "girlfriend" in this book. It encompasses young and old. I connected with many things in this book (I'm 30) and I gave it to my mom for Mothers Day. She absolutely loved it! I had a chance to meet Susan Branch at a book signing for this book and I was priveledged to share with her my thoughts about this book and all of hers I own. She was such a joy to talk with if only for a brief moment. My copy has a special message to me and will always be treasured and definataly re-read over the years! Give this to all your "girlfriends"! They will love it!
