The Star Wars Universe brought to life!,
By Shannon Cook "Star Wars wife" (Ralston, AB Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Essential Atlas: Star Wars (Paperback)
I bought this as based on the suggestion of Amazon while buying another Star Wars book and am I ever glad I did! This was a Christmas present for my husband, the ultimate Star Wars fan who's head chalk is full of Star Wars knowledge. This book is beautifully done, with vibrant color pictures of every planet in the Star Wars universes. It has star charts, the trade routes, even statistical information on each planet like the population and main trade. It's like a tradtional real world atlas only SO much cooler because it is Star Wars. If you or someone you know is a fan, this is a MUST HAVE addition to a collection.

I think this book assumes that the reader knows about all the Star Wars worlds. As I read the book, I tried to find the referenced worlds in the corresponding maps. To say the least, it was difficult and a pain to try to do a search through a map that has so many labels on it. I would suggest that the authors italicize or bold the names of planets that are referenced int the text.I own other Star Wars reference books and I would consider this one of the less appealing volumes. It's not terrible but not overly reader friendly.

If you are at all interested in the Star Wars Movies/Books/Games/etc this is a book for you. It shows maps of the universe as the galaxy expanded with exploration, many of the famous planets (of course not even close to how many are actually in the SWGalaxy)...The book is large and printed on heavy shiny paper... it is a good read and helpful to those who want to know more about the universe they are living in.

Book-shaped pure awesomeness,
This review is from: The Essential Atlas: Star Wars (Paperback)
It's like cocaine for the Star Wars geek: maps, star systems, history, spatio-politics, Hutt Space, the Pentastar Alignment, Ackbar's Core campaign, the Outer Rim...

This is an enjoyable book if you've read a lot of the Star Wars novels. If you haven't, it will be less fun. Very good illustrations.
