A good concept, wasted.,
By Kelsini (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Queen's Bastard (Paperback)
Right. So the concept of a bastard child of an Elizabeth I-expy being trained as an assassin and then proceeding to cause havok across the continent? Intriguing! Nothing epic, but certainly entertaining. But alas, it didn't live up to it. The heroine, such as she was, was as whiny and self-pitying as she was vicious and I couldn't shake the feeling that the author wanted me to feel as sorry for her as the character did for herself. Adding to the pile was that the actions of most of the cast seemed inexplicable. I slogged through three-fourths of this book before abandoning it in a hostel. I hope that whoever found it got more out of it than I did. |
