This review is from: A World on Fire: Britain's Crucial Role in the American Civil War (Hardcover)
This book reads like a novel. Although the history of the Civil War is well known, by skillfully using diaries, letter, newspaper accounts and other historical documents the author maintains the suspense of events. She manages to bring little known historical characters alive and present the war as it was seen on the other side of the Atlantic. This was a true page turner.
