I for one believe the Serpent War series, all 4 books, is perhaps one of the MOST! entertaining series of books I have yet read. In fact, I have reread them more than almost any other in my extensive collection. I like the way his characters evolve and don't stay as they were in the beginning. That's the way life is. I loved Roo in the Rise of a Merchant King and the battles in Rage of a Demon King, when they finally reach the shore "Bigger just makes em easier to hit". So many memorable quotes and exciting strategies. Couldn't put it down.

Another series which I truely enjoyed, is The Morcyth Saga by newcomer Brian S. Pratt. Exciting, thrilling, and logically done. Excellent story telling. If you haven't tried it, read The Unsuspecting Mage and you'll see what I mean.

This book is about 1 million times better than "Rise of a Merchent Prince" a book that I little actually dislike but will not re-read agian either.

In this book preety much everything pays off from the first two books we have a lot of conflict on all fronts and while some of it doesn't get wrapped up smothly it all comes to more than a satisfactory conclusion. At a point this book is just one drawn out slugging match with the forces of the Emerald Queen.

Everyone who has possibly even remotly been in a Feist serise of books has a part to play and for the most part this works out really well.

My favorite sequence in the whole book is the conversation between Duke James and the leader of the Thives Guild. This is a book that I will gladly rwead agian.

Overall-Took a while to get going but in the end it packs quite a punch.

Just when you think things are going to be ok. Feist launches into another war which leads to the destruction of most of the kingdom. From the Lizard Men to the Serpent Priests Feist doesn't disappoint. Once you pick up this book you can't put it down. Another Feist 5 +++ star book.

I have read all the Feist books dealing with the Midkemian world. The "Pro" review from Krokus states they don't know why Raymonds fans keep buying these books...Guess they just don't get it. Rage is the BEST of all the books he's wrote so far. And boy he killed off some main characters in this series. For those who read this book I'll just leave you with these words from the book "As Jimmy The Hand comes back home".

"Rise of A Merchant Prince" disappointed me for its slow progress and pause of the overall story to focus on Rupert Avery's development as a business men. It wasn't the sole story in the novel, but it was the main focus. "Rage" is back on track with the overall conflict between Midkemia and the Emerald Emperess's Army advance. So much happens in fact, it made me wonder why another novel in the series is necessary. There are some ends left untied, but overall overthree quarters of the plot gets settled. I'm glad to see the return of characters from previous novels and Feist isn't afraid to show the seriousness of the conflict in not all make it through this novel, which only makes sense. Boredom would set in if all the good characters made it through every conflict with only minor scratches.

This book isn't just the climax to the Serpent War set of books, it is a sort of climax to the whole set of Midkemia novels. Feist obviously subscribes to the belief that retiring old characters should be done well and heroicly. The followup book is simply to tie up all the threads of the action of this well-done book.

I cant belive anyone who likes feist even a little bit would give this book less than 5 stars! Its the most thrilling and touching book feist has ever written. I read it multible times its so great.

Feist captures your attention as he leads you through the epic story of Eric, Roo, and many other intreging characters. He knows his territory well, and uses great detail to express his point. The novel was excellent, and gives a good picture of the war as it happened. The only let down was that when you finish the book, you think "That's it? That war was solved so quickly!" Luckily, there are many, many other Fiest book with interesting and exotic wars for fantasy fans to read.

after investing the time and effort of the mediocre prequels to this book I found an boringly over long, shallow waste. The story was repetitive and stale. The characters weak shallow, and uninteresting. Feists writing style is a non-descript list of events rather than anything faintly imaginative.

This book was really interesting. I liked Eric because of his character. It's really interesting of how he had to fight the demon's army but also had to avoid his half-mom.
