A thorough disappointment,
By A Customer
This review is from: Say You Love Me (Mass Market Paperback)
As a reader of other Johanna Lindsey books (no Mallory's though) I was bored reading about a bunch of characters with limited or no roles in the story. Additionally, though the premise was interesting, the villain is so thoroughly distasteful that it interfered with the love story - which was lacking. I agree with another reviewer - the heroine needed some serious help, and the hero was not very defined. This book left me cold.

Sexual Subjugation--So Not For Me,
By Jillian MacLean (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Say You Love Me (Mass Market Paperback)
Although I am a big fan of Johanna Lindsey's Malory novels, I have to say that this one did not do it for me. This can be attributed almost entirely to the fact that I absolutely abhor themes of sexual subjugation. Unfortunately, Kelsey, our heroine, finds herself forever in this role. Willingly selling herself in a London whorehouse in order to pay her uncle's gambling debts and ensure her sister a marriageable future, at times, Kelsey seems like little more than Derek's sexual play thing. Even though Derek "buys" Kelsey in order to prevent a lecherous old man from buying her, the plot line still irks me. I do not like the idea of a woman *having* to have sex because her "owner" tells her that it is time. The mere thought makes me cringe. That said, we all have different interests and fantasies. I suspect that anyone who likes the idea of reading about mild sexual domination would like this book. In many ways, it is light and witty. The entire Malory family is also very endearing. For those who prefer less violent themes, I would recommend Lindsey's Gentle Rogue, Tender Rebel, and The Magic of You. All are part of Johanna Lindsey's Malory series. I think that they offer all of the benefits without any of the downsides. If you like these, then perhaps consider reading this book (Say You Love Me) so that you can see where the family story line goes. If you do not like them, you will have saved yourself from having read about sexual domination.

This is the very 1st books of Ms Lindsey's novel which I started off. In fact I started to love her Malory novel series. I just simply love the stories how Kelsey and Derek met each other - so romantic... I will definate continue to finish the rest of the other malory's series and currently I'm on my way to finish 'Love Only Once' which consist of stories about how Reggie met Nicky, its quite a comedy!

I've always love the Malory's novels. I love this one too, it was good, somewhat predictable and I think it could have been better. I also would love to know what happens to Jeremy Malory, where is his storie?

I'm actually a little surprised that a few gave this book disapproving marks, but hey-to each his own. I really enjoyed this Malory novel, though. Derek may not be exactly like his uncles, but that's kind of a good thing since he represents something "different". I think he was amazingly sweet, but tough when he oughtta be.The other Malory characters reprised their roles in this novel. Some of the dialogue they had were really funny-I was laughing my arse off. I love the companionship between Percy,Derek and Jeremy. <3 <3 <3

Oh, I absolutely loved this beautiful love story about Kelsey and Derek. I immediately fell in love with both of them and I was touched by how protective Derek was over his "mistress." He's a great hero, she's a fantastic heroine and it's just a wonderful escape. I have read MANY Lindsey novels and this is BY FAR, my favorite. I can read it again and again!! You'll love it!
