Amazing,

This review is from: Gentle Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
This was the first novel that I had ever read by Johanna and I must say I was pleasantly surprise. Never being one for romances before this, I have to say I am now ardently hooked. I love the fact that James is not your regular pompous englishman but rather the exact opposite. He is bold and is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, that being Georgina. Georgina i find is independent too which i like instead of the tradition whimsy and fragile female. If you are unsure, just take a chance on this one, you're sure to love it.

I used to be a huge Lindsey fan...,

...but not as much anymore. I only gave two stars because the heroine is totally annoying. I guess she's supposed to be written as strong and independent, so why do authors fall into the trap of writing such women as banshees you roll your eyes at? Page after page, I kept waiting for James to throw Georgina overboard so she'd drown. That's how annoying I found her. She's as bad as Lady Brenna from Fires of Winter (someone else who I wished wouldn't have come back after she found herself abducted by the vikings across the fjord). I like most of Lindsey's male heroes, but her heroines are hit and miss, and if they are a "miss," they really spoil a great story. Same with the tired plot of "I love you, no I hate you, no I love you, wait, have sex with me, no, don't have sex with me." Can't she come up with something better?

Disappointing,

Don't like the heroine - what kind of a silly nitwit would try to hide on a ship and 'work her way' back to America. Also, she was a bit easy, rolling over for the hero when he hadn't even worked for it at all. Don't like the hero either. He is arrogant and treats the heroine like a tramp. The story seems contrived and awkward, and the 'beautiful girl hiding as 10 year old boy' was not believable, and is such a cliche. Skip this one.

Well Written and extremely Funny!,

If you are in for a light-humourous novel which lack drama and all that emotional stuff, then this is the book u are looking for. The Malories and Andersens are two eccentric families who are devoted to their own blood with fierce determination. Georgina is the sister of 5 Andersen brothers. Surely, u know wat that small detail suggests=) Their protectiveness toward George will be put onto test when James dared to touch their baby sister. Of course, we can't deny the additional fact of the presence of the Malory clan. It will be chaos when the two families meet. I didn't recognize Lindsey's writing in this novel. She absolutely did a good job and this is probably her best. If she's not good with drama, I assure u, it is because she's better on making people laugh than crying and thank God for that!

I've read a lot of duds lately, so I was thrilled while reading "Gentle Rogue." It never got boring. I read the entire 426 page book in a day, because I could not put it down.James Malory is a terrific hero. His wit keeps you grinning through out the story. He's also big, strong, brave, and all man. Although he has a dark past, he has a soft heart for the women in his family. Georgina Anderson makes a great heroine, too. She is strong- willed, but not nasty like some heroines turn out. She has guts and is willing to work to make her way home, to America, from England. She's intelligent and witty, as well. The families of both James & Georgina are also a good source of humor. James has 3 brothers, Georgina has 5. All enjoy ribbing one another in a way that makes the whole story fun. Great love scenes, that are steamy without going over the edge. This is my first book by Lindsey. I'm definitely going to look for more of her work.

This is one of my favorite books by Johanna Lindsey. I have read many of her other books but I keep coming back to this one. I love the chemistry between Georgie and James. There is more to these two characters than the passion that they share. Everytime I pick up this book I know I won't be able to put it down again. No matter how many times I have read it I keep getting engrossed in the characters and the plot. Don't hesitate to get this book; it is a keeper.

Gentle Rogue is my absolute favorite book, by my absolute favorite author. The chemistry between James and Georgina iswonderful! James is the man that all of us romantics at heart dream of marrying and Georgina is like every woman on one level or another. Of course, the book wouldn't have been the same without Johanna Lindsey's excellent sense of humor. Some parts of the book had me laughing out loud! I have read this book three times and will read it probably three more times. I bought all of the books in the Malory series after reading Gentle Rogue!

This is, in a word, WONDERFUL! James Malory is not only gorgeous and sexy, he actually has an amazing sense of humor. Georgie is so cute and feisty too. The plot is a riot. Buy this book now and thank all of us reviewers later.

This was a great one! I already loved James from LOVE ONLY ONCE. His own story didn't disappoint. I love the scenes with him and Tony! One of my favorite and most endearing is when James introduces Tony to his son. (In my opinion, Tony's own story fizzled horribly.) There wasn't a boring spot in this book, though. James is a handsome devil, and menacing when he needs to be. It's definitely worth reading again.Love the part where he walks in on "George" using the chamber pot! |
