Seriously loved it!,

This review is from: Heaven on Earth (Paperback)
After I started reading this book "Heaven on Earth by Constance O'Day Flannery, I just couldn't put it down. Every pages filled with excitment and adventure. I like the message that the author had given us that we all have our own destiny like Luke and Casey. They're destined to meet but the odd is that they met in a strange situation--"time traveling". The only confusing part of this book in my opinion is that the author wrote too much about science and new age stuff. Even though, she tried to explain them as simple as possible but still...science is hard to understand. Especially about time traveling that includes an explanation about atoms and such. But overall, I recommend this book for it was not at all as boring as it seems.

Very disappointing book,

I have read several of this writer's books and really enjoyed them. So I was suprised at this book. The central characters are almost unlikeable, definitely boring and lack depth. I also didn't care for all the New Age references, it didn't seem to fit. I would advise against buying this book. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't much.

Not The Best...,

This review is from: Heaven on Earth (Paperback)
Heaven On Earth had an interesting premise, certainly different than the usual time travel romances. The fact that both Luke and Casey were time travellers was a wonderful basis for the book, however, a few things made the story dull and lacking in spark. The hero, Luke, was very hard to identify with and seemed distant. His character wasn't explored enough and left me with many unanswered questions. His physical description was also lacking. He talked a lot about New Age concepts but wasn't clear enough on what exactly he did and why he did it. Too vague in his explanation of why he was time traveling. Casey was a great character and she was written well. But I felt almost as if she was more concerned with having a child than with being in love with Luke. The descriptions of New Mexico and of the customs were excellent. It made for a wonderful setting for Heaven On Earth, but the lack of good characters made the story hard to get through no matter how well the setting was painted out. It was a book that you would either love in the first twenty pages or hate by the beginning of the first chapter.

Enchanting,

I liked the idea that both characters are travelers. I enjoyed the time period and the Spanish culture of this book. I really liked the hero, Luke. He is definitely what dreams are made of in a male. I enjoyed the lessons he teaches Casey about life - to enjoy and go with it. The story never really explains who or what Luke is. Perhaps that was the mystery Ms. Flannery-O'Day was trying to keep. (I am just too curious for my own good). I also was a bit disappointed in the ending. I thought she could have done more to it. Overall, the book was very enjoyable and I recommend it.

Heavy on New Age themes,
By Lisa "lisa m" (San Jose, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heaven on Earth (Paperback)
Constance O'Day-Flannery knows how to write an excellent time travel. The premise of Heaven on Earth--time travel with a hunk of an "angel"--is enough to give the reader delicious shivers. However, the story gets bogged down in the preaching of New Age themes (even if the hero does claim they are timeless truths). This book will either speak to the reader, or make her roll her eyes. She'll have to determine that for herself.

Disappointing,

I have read every one of this authors books and enjoyed them immensely. Until, this one. This is the most boring book i have read in a long time. The story has no substance. All the main character does is whine about having been brought back in time. There is nothing to this book. Save your money!!!!

I would like to comment to ALL just how much I Loved reading, Constance O'Day-Flannery new book, " Heaven on Earth" . A friend sent me her book. This was the very first in 54 years of life, I have ever read a romance novel. She is one Lady I plan on reading more of. I am now an advivd reader. I truly enjoyed how indepth she can see life, love and the true meaning of why we are here. Travelling in time was an experience I had not had done before. What irony is, just last night, I watched the movie Zorro and totally relate her book to that time. Every page is an adventure. I found myself scolding Casey, and loving Luke. When she turned the tables, I listened, watched and learned. Thank you so much Julia T. Stout

Just didn't fall for Luke,

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the setting and all the details of the spanish culture. I also loved her descriptions of love being like electricity. Cassy is a very real character and very easy to identify with. Overall a very creative, interesting book. BUT, for some reason I didn't fall for Luke. I don't feel like I really got to know him in this book and he seemed kind of dull and removed. Also, it took me a while to really get into it....like the first 100 pages. The great story and all the twists though, still make it worth reading.

Time Travel At It's Best,
By Liz Colwell (Granite City, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heaven on Earth (Paperback)
I have read Constance O'Day-Flannery's books for several years and have even back ordered some of her work to finish my collection. This has to be one of her best. I love the time period, the romantic Spanish culture and the characters. I seriously had a hard time putting this book down. It was an enjoyable read from begining to end with no uncomfortable pauses. I would love to see her take these two characters use them to visit other era's and see where she takes them. This is one not to miss, so don't miss out.
