Tuesdays With Morrie: Overrated,
By Stephanie (Pepper Pike, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson (Paperback)
I am an 8th grader, and I chose to read this book for a book report because I had heard such wonderful things about it. I would recommend this book for certain people only. While Morrie's views may be helpful to some, I truly believe that this book is overrated. I had heard that this book was life changing, and for me this was certainly not the case. For extremely materialistic people, this book may change some values, but for an average person, the book won't tell anything they don't already know. I was disappointed when it most certainly did not live up to the expectations I had in my mind.In my opinion, Tuesdays With Morrie was a good story that was not as well written as it should have been. While Morrie does have good messages to share with readers, these are things that most people are usually conscious of, and only extremely materialistic people may need such reminders. The writing itself did not do justice to the meaningful story that could have been portrayed. However, I did enjoy the story to some extent, and because it is a short book, it is worth reading. I think that some people may need this book as a small reminder of what is really important in life. I also appreciate the fact that Mitch Albom shared Morrie's inspirational views with the world, and the idea behind this book is important and meaningful.

Not Worth The Time,
By Robert Jordan (Canada) - See all my reviews

I was expecting so much more from this little book. So many 5 star ratings from other readers, how could they all be wrong? As I was reading this book I kept hoping the next page would bring forth new insights about life, perhaps even some thought provoking ideas, but no, nada. I felt ripped off by the end. I already know that one should appreciate the simple things in life...Do yourself a favor and save your money and time.

A sentimental story.,
By Peter Thorton "Pete" (Toronto, Ontario, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson (Mass Market Paperback)
A caring and compassionate story of one man's (Morey) courage in dealing with a debilitating illness that is slowly ending his life. The story indirectly gives advice and anecdotes to help one find joy in one's own life. A moving, sad and yet also endearing look at the passing way of a brave and wise soul.

I'm Impressed!,

This review is from: Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson (Paperback)
Morrie was mentally strong, though he suffered from the terminal disease, ALS(=amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), I'd say. He was eager to tell the meaning of life to his ex-student, Mitch Albom, who is also the author of Tuesday's With Morrie. I would only worry about my terminal disease,if I were in Morrie's shoes. I mean, all I could do would be to be apathetic or pessimistic about my future. " The truth is once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." - that'd be the last thing I could say.Certainly, it WAS sad that Morrie passed away because he was respected by lots of his students and graduates. However, every Tuesday when Morrie told Mitch the meaning of life must be very precious memories for Mitch, that's for sure!

My all time favorite book.,
By Bee "Bee" (Vancouver, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson (Paperback)
This is my all time favorite book. I read it again and again and it never gets old. It's truely inspiring. The strength and love that Morrie shares leaves you speechless. Who knew that somebody could live with so much appreciation even during times of sickness. It touches my heart and I've passed this book onto multiple people and will continue doing so. I think everyone should read this book. It'll open your eyes to things you never realized and make you live your life differently. Mitch Albom does such a great job writing this memoir, you feel as if you're there with him during every visit.

I've heard nothing but good things about this book which is why I am on here looking it up. I am looking forward to reading it. I also recommend the book called, If Jesus Is So Darn Loving Then Why Is My Life In The Crapper.

Simplicity is deceptive,

This review is from: Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson (Paperback)
What started out as a simple read for me, quickly became something quite involved and thought-provoking. The beauty of this little book is in its simplicity--the message is one that inspires and enlightens. I've read both of Albom's books now and believe this to be the better of the two. The movie that was made for TV is quite good also.Would also recommend THE BARK OF THE DOGWOOD.

Of the three,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson (Paperback)
Of the three books I've recently read ("Last Juror" "Bark of the Dogwood" and "Tuesdays with Morrie") I liked this one the best. The others were also great, but the simplicity of "Morrie" and the wonderful message it had to offer put it on top for me. Inspirational and easy to read, this book would make a great gift.
