5.0 out of 5 stars difficult, but important, book
I lost my mom and my brother to suicide; my sister keeps trying. This book has done more than I thought possible to make me understand that the anger and guilt and anguish that I feel at my loss can be overcome. The stories the author shares put a voice to my own experiences as a survivor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Real accounts by people who have been there
I couldn't stop reading this book. I've found that when you are grieving it is very hard to concentrate on long-winded books and I liked the way this one flows. It moves easily from one story to another, with Carla Fine adding her own story along the way. Although this book doesn't really help by offering advice on how to cope it does show you that your grief is...

This review is from: No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One (Paperback)
I lost my brother a few months ago by suicide. This book was excellent. It was almost like it was written just for me. I described my feelings and thoughts. I helped me realize I wasn't alone in how I was feeling. I wish I could send this book to every suicide survivor out there. Thank You so much Clara Fine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book - Great Help, Feb 3 2003

Although I unfortunately HAD to read this book after my younger brother's suicide in June, 2002, I found it so very helpful, understanding and caring. I also listened to Carla Fine speak during a Suicide Presentation teleconference this past September. It made her book even more special. This book covers so many subjects that we ask ourselves everyday; although there are no "answers" for us; this book lets you know your not "alone" in your pain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, Poignant, & Necessary, July 17 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One (Paperback)
Carla Fine has written the bible for suicide survivors. Thank you, thank you, and God bless you, Ms. Fine! And to all of you who found this book healing and helpful and need something else to read, I highly recommend the novel A SECRET WORD, by Jennifer Paddock. She is herself a suicide survivor and writes about it with Carla Fine's honesty and empathy. It's bar none the best novel on the subject I've ever read. If those who are out there and are contemplating suicide would just read these books, you'd see what the devastating results would be to your loss, and you probably couldn't go through with it. You wouldn't want to. You couldn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Top Notch Book, April 23 2004
By
Suzanne (houston, tx United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One (Paperback)
Carla Fine writes with sincerity and honesty about all aspects of suicide. I read it like it was keeping me from drowning. I read about many other survivors, like me, who had lost a relative or loved one to suicide. This book is for the survivor. And it truly helps you to realize you are not alone and that others feel the same way. Thankfully, I've never been ashamed of what my brother did and I haven't been angry at him. If you've read this book, please tell everyone you know about it. Because suicide is so secretive, you'd be surprised how many other people are survivors like you are. So share this book please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, Mar 9 2004

This review is from: No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One (Paperback)
If you are a survivor of suicide or know someone that has lost a loved one to a suicide, this book will let you know that you are not alone. It tells many individual stories but also the author ties in her own experience losing her husband to suicide. Also if you need help consoling someone who has been through suicide I recommend this book. I myself am a survivor this book comforted me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Dealing with Suicide Survivors, Jan 28 2004

Nathalia Katz (New Orleans, LA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One (Paperback)
I have read many of the other books dealing with suicide survivors but none has helped like this one. This book should be required reading for all suicide survivors. Although at times difficult to read (not because of the writing but because of the sudden understanding), it has helped me more than one book seems capable of. Thank you so much Carl Fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done!, Dec 16 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One (Paperback)
I liked this book because it wasn't preachy or psychoanalytic. Carla Fine doesn't pretend to have all (or any) of the answers. She presents the stories of suicide as they are, with all the emotion and confusion that any survivor has experienced, thus making the reader feel that they are not alone. The book is written compassionately and you identify with the feelings shared by the people she interviewed, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the death. For me, the book provided the comfort of going to a support group before I was actually ready to venture out of the house. I've recommended it and passed my copy to all my family members.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading for anyone who never got to say goodbye, Sep 6 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One (Paperback)
The title of Carla Fine's book caught my attention after the suicide of my brother nine months ago. I was searching for answers, and I found them in her book. She knows her subject intimately, and she was willing to share one of lifes' most unbearable situations with other suicide survivors. I have recommended this book to family members who are also searching for answers. Unfortunately, we'll never know how someone can end their life without thinking of the effect on their loved ones, but it helps to know others have survived the suicide of a family member. Thank you, Carla Fine.
