Astonishing Adventure!,
This review is from: The Salt Road (Paperback)
An astonishing and remarkable adventure! The author wrote this story beautifully as I could truly feel the hot desert sands beneath my feet and see the magnificence of the land through the eyes of her characters. In various chapters throughout the book her words were quite poetic as she captured the lives of its people. As it takes you along their journey you come to know how fate does seem to push us along the many paths that must be taken. A very enjoyable book indeed and highly recommended.

I found this book somewhat confusing. Firstly I was under the impression that the two storeies were set many years apart which they wern't. Secondly she seemed to change the size of the amulet that Isabel was left by her father. At one time she wore it around her neck and it was extremely heavy and another time it was a bracelet. Bits of it were quite good but on the whole a little far fetched.

The Salt Road had my attention from first paragraph to last. I could not put it down. It is intricately plotted, seamlessly written. Young Izzy is a strong, resiliant child who reflects that she doesn't fit into her family, or her home. By 30 something, she has metamorphosed into a practical, conservative business woman. Her father's death leaves her with a unique inheritance that changes her life and sets her on a path she could not have imagined, on a journey to Morocco, through the desert, through time. The ending will surprise you. A beautiful story. Defintely a keeper. A must read and then share with friends. |
