5.0 out of 5 stars This is best gift I have ever received,
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)This past Christmas (2001), my boyfriend gave me this as a gift. He knew of my love for childrens books, and got it for me. After opening the box, I immediately started to read the book quietly to myself. It was so beautiful, with such a simple message anyone of any age can appreciate and love. I was drawn to tears of happiness after reading it, I tried to shield my reaction from the room full of his family members. But they caught me with the tears of joy streaming down my face. At this point his sister read it aloud to us all and she was drawn to tears as well. This book like I said earlier, is wonderful for a significant other, or just a friend you think is special. What can I say...absolutely wonderful work here and I highly recommend it to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wedding Hit!,
By A Customer
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)A very good friend read this book at our wedding, and it was the most delightful thing ever. I can't tell you how many people came up to us (and to her) afterward asking about the book. It brought tears to my eyes and smiles and laughter to our wedding ceremony. I love this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars My all-time favorite book,
By A Customer
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)I first heard this book when I was a very little girl at summer camp. Two of the counselors read it to each other at a campfire, taking turns reading the lines. When I grew up, I became one of those counselors who frequently read it with a good friend at different campfires. It's held a place in my heart ever since.
We all made a rule that "I Like You" is not a book you can buy for yourself. You can only own it if someone else gives it to you, and I have given it to many of the most important people in my life. It's quite possibly the best gift I've ever found to give to someone.
This year at Christmastime I gave it to a special friend, and I read it out loud to him before he left. I told him it was one of my favorite books and I'd loved it since I was a child. After we read it, he said, "This means a lot for adults, too." Since then he is constantly throwing out "I like you"'s to me and quoting the book--it means a lot to both of us now. :)
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect,
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)This little book is incredible, one of the best books I have ever purchased. I bought it for my boyfriend of 6 years and it was perfect at communicating how I felt when I was with him. The pictures aren't that fabulous, but the words are immaculate.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful Find,
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)My one-year-old daughter just picked this off the bookstore shelf, so I bought it for her. What a wonderful, sweet book! Later that evening I finally sat down and read it and it made me cry! Buy it for anyone you care about. It's just amazing.
5.0 out of 5 stars Silverstein With a Bigger Brain,
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)An ephinany for grown-ups....as are many children's books (as are many children). While shopping for the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling, I, the impulse shopper, bought this book after looking at one page at the counter. Throw away the self-help books, buy this, read it, read it again and then keep it in good company with "If", The Prophet, Life After God and A Prayer for Owen Meany. Give it to anyone you like and everyone you love; give it to the innocent for sure and "pay it forward" to all grown-ups flirting with bitterness.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, innocent, and quite meaningful,
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)I was looking for a gift for my girlfriend, something that wasn't too cliched or overdone. Somehow the recommendation system at Amazon pointed out this little gem. So, I bought it, figuring that if it turned out to be corny or too elementary, I'd just give it to one of my nieces.
As it turns out, this is an amazing book that manages to give a simple voice to strong, complex emotions, and all this in a funny, whimsical way.
My girlfriend was very surprised and absolutely loved it. We sat down right there and read it out loud together. To this day she will sometimes include quotes or excerpts from it when she writes me or we're talking on the phone.
For a purported "children's book," it has a powerful impact. Sometimes you laugh while you're reading it, sometimes you simply say "That is so true!" Given wisely to those whom you truly care about, it states beautiful truths in an innocent, meaningful, effective way.
5.0 out of 5 stars What a beautiful book...,
By A Customer
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)When I had read this book by myself, I thought that it was the cutest thing, but it really didn't stir any emotions. But when I gave it to my boyfriend, and he started reading it, for some reason, the whole essence of the book started to pour with emotions...it really is a beautiful book in such a simple, understated way...Although the book always says "I like you..." i think all of the emotions it describes are really various forms of Love...its such a wonderful book...
5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes liking is stronger than loving,
This review is from: I Like You (Hardcover)My mother gave my father this book many years ago, and my sister and I grew up reading the dog-eared pages and studying the black-and-white line drawings. The book is so small, so simple, and so completely and utterly perfect.
This past Valentine's day, I bought my own copy of the book. Over the course of two weeks, I hand illustrated it with colored pencils. I colored my love into every single page, and gave this magical tome to the love of my life. Someday our kids will read it and study the drawings, and pass on the message it contains. It is quite possibly the most important book ever written.
