A Redwall Feast,
By The Mittons. (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Redwall Cookbook (Paperback)
We are huge fans of the Redwall series. When we purchased this cookbook my husband listed all the recipes by name and it amazed my kids that they could actually make their own "Deeper'n'Ever Turnip'n'Tater'n'Beetroot Pie", "Shripm'n'Hotroot Soup", "October Ale", and "Nunnymolers". So that is what they did, they each picked a recipe, made a grocery list and with some assistance, cooked a whole Redwall Feast. Most of the recipes are vegetarian, besides the use of milk, eggs, and the occasional one using shrimp (as they are recipes of the tiny woodland folk). Not only does this book have recipes, each dish is accompanied by a short tale of Redwall and colourful illustrations. Brian Jacques has made, with the embellishment of artist Christopher Denise, a marvelous little treasure that I'm sure we will wear out with use. |
