I was amazed at the feeling i got from it.I saw for the first time it was released as a teenager then again 081607..having more grown up experiences now i saw it differently. she was all wrong for him..
she met him knowing the charm and sex appeal he had she like all women were drawn to him..in a perfect world he would of been faithful, we cant judge him through our world but look through his eyes.she wanted him through all the good times but when the bad times appeared she couldnt take it..I laughed when she had the affair she was ohhhh lonely and he wasnt there for her and it waited till after the sex then she says "
I love Elvis"....BUT, when he done it for the exact same reasons... and you let me say you can be with someone physicallly but not mentally as she was.... she didnt know why and she didnt deserve it..she was a winey hanging on wife who she stresssed everyday he needed to change for her, like everyone else did to him!!!!i truly believe if she would of gotten off that high horse and came down to his level and say "I want to make you feel secure not change you to my mold and help you through the demons you fight I understand you do these things out of other issues not because your a bad person we will heal this marriage" he would of come around to her but with the drama he put her in the catagory with the rest of "change for me elvis" group...with the other women he was just loved no drama..really it was not abut the sex he had with them from them he got security. from cilla he got "your not quite good enough yet"..she preach do right by her crap...she mentally abused him too. she cheated and lied just as much as he did..she still to this day will not admit her emotional short comming toward him...its poor me he cheated...well didnt she.but hers his excusable right?no way!..elvis was beating down emotionally by the only women he really let get close to him....cilla always says she tried to make her marriage work....i dont think so! simple saying "you loser i deserve better do right by me"..she pushed him over the edge,,she killed elvis as far as im concerned.

4.0 out of 5 stars fast paced just like his life, Mar 12 2009
This review is from: Elvis and Me (Mass Market Paperback)
sweet story of love yet sorrow. Its too bad that elvis didn't have the proper suppourt around him that he required at those times throughout his life. Definitly a troubled genius yet great performer who lived for his audience seems like. Definitly a must read for any elvis fan of any magnitute. Fame isn't always the best thing. Priscilla is a survivor

1.0 out of 5 stars Elvis gets chewed up and spit out!, July 19 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Elvis and Me (Mass Market Paperback)
Was Priscilla Presley mad at Elvis when she wrote this book? I think so. She comes off as an angel and makes him look like the devil himself. How could you be married to Elvis Presley and write a book telling the most private things about your marriage? Did we need to know he took pictures of her naked? That he made her and her girlfriend appear to be lesbian lovers as he watched? Wait a minute - which is it? Does she go both ways? What a dishonor to the King of Rock and Roll! This book cannot possibly be the real truth - if you want to read a good book about Elvis & Priscilla - read Child Bride. The ex-Mrs. Presley is not as perfect as her book would have you believe. Poor Elvis!

2.0 out of 5 stars You'll get hooked.., July 14 2004

This review is from: Elvis and Me (Mass Market Paperback)
I am 16, I love Elvis, and this is a very interesting and great look from Pri's perspective of him. I have not finished the book yet but I will soon because I cannot but it down hardly. One thing I dispize about it is, Elvis held his love making as a very high vurtue, she was always angry with him, but yet she realised how right he was to wait, but didnt give him any credit, I love that about Elvis, that he had high morals and wanted to wait, plus she was young, he wanted the best for her, but she was a young teen wanting to explore and she didnt like to be held back.. To alot of people this book makes them see a "drug addict/dark side" of The King, but to me it just makes me care for him and love him more, and dislike Pri might I add.. Yes she had hard times with him but everyone has problems, even Elvis, and I believe she should have not pressured him so, but thats just my opinion.. Anyways, its a good book, if you love Elvis, and it's written really well... I'll just have to finish it and see how I feel then...

If it does nothing else for you, it's sure to give you chills and a throbbing heart each time he touches Pri holds her tight. Heh.. If it doesnt, your nuts heh.. JK

1.0 out of 5 stars A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH, July 3 2004
This review is from: Elvis and Me (Mass Market Paperback)
Who among us would want to have our image and empire run by our cheating ex spouse? Elvis was no saint, and I don't blame Priscilla for getting out or straying when he wouldn't make love to her. The reasons why he shut her out is what she leaves out of the book. CHILD BRIDE tells a far more accurate version of how Elvis' little experiment with her backfired and he was forced into marriage by Priscilla's step father, who threatened to go public with the nature of their relationship if he didn't seal the deal with the marriage he promised. Elvis was still going to back out until the Colonel put his foot down and made Elvis get on one knee. Some guy that step father is; who would let their 15 year old daughter move in with a movie star? It's like those parents that send their kids to Neverland Ranch hoping for a big pay day. The Bealieu family's exploitation of Elvis has been a sin that continues, and she has seemingly passed her hard feelings along to Lisa Marie.

2.0 out of 5 stars One-Sided Story, May 3 2004

This review is from: Elvis and Me (Mass Market Paperback)
I originally read Elvis and Me about 10 years ago and it left me with many questions concerning Priscilla's intentions. Was this book really intended to tell the whole raw honest truth of the king and his bride OR to gloss Priscilla's image and leave her with a whiter than white reputation ? I decided for myself that the second reason was probably the truth. I could not help but feel that Priscilla used this book to boost her image and to provoke pity onto herself. This , in my opinion, was a PR motivated move by Priscilla Presley. I could not help but feel that she still has some resentment inside her for the years that she spent in Elvis' shadow and this clearly comes across in the pages. She has stated in interviews that she needed to "tell the truth" for the sake of her daughter, however in reference to the so called "rape" section (at the end of their marriage), what effect would this have on your child..and to tell the whole world ??, I am sorry but I feel that nobodys best interests were at heart except Priscilla's. I felt that most of the "story" in this book was what Priscilla wanted you to believe and I did come away with many many questions and doubts. I have recently read Child Bride and these very questions and doubts that I had were unbelievably covered in this book. I really am sorry to say, that Child Bride, with its much researched evidence and reliable scources, seems to be the accurate version (in my opinion) of events and the truth, surrounding Elvis and Priscilla's relationship.

1.0 out of 5 stars typical glossed over celeb bio, April 12 2004
By
This review is from: Elvis and Me (Mass Market Paperback)
I have had a change a heart about this book, if you read it when it first came out in the 80's, you thought it was a great book. But now over 15 years later alot of inconsistencies arise but since Priscilla is Priscilla no one has really ever dared to question her. Alot of people who were interviwed for Child Bride tell a diffrent story, so many that their stories can't be explained away because i have always believed were there is smoke, is fire.

In regards to the fact that Priscilla did date quite alot but she says she hardly did and when Priscilla was supposedly giving Elvis encouragment in the TV movie. Another side came about to where she was mocking him, laughing behind his back over the snowmobile suit he was wearing. And on and on, don't buy this book because if you really read it, you will come away with alot more questions then answers. But if you like the usual spin, you will love this one..

1.0 out of 5 stars Angry and Brutal To the Max!, Oct 23 2003
By
This review is from: Elvis and Me (Mass Market Paperback)
Wow! Written after his death--before Elvis became the billion dollar "Cash Cow" that he is today--the author had no idea that the King would go on and become even bigger after death! The ex-wife obviously thought "Elvis was over" and that it was the beginning of her career. The book has got to be the coldest and cruelest rip off of the world's greatest entertainer. Her anger is so great that even after Elvis' death, the book was like she was trying to saw his coffin in two! How do true Elvis fans stand it that she is profiting so greatly from someone she so blantantly profaned to the world? The rape accusation--was that really necessary? She pictured Elvis as a blundering, drug crazed, frigid, psycho, sexual predator. I'm offended and the dead can't defend themselves.Obviously, the greatest tragedy in his life was his marriage to her. Shocking and very sad.
