This review is from: Bridge To Love (Paperback)
Nancy Herkness writes a memorable first book.Kate Chilton has her perfect world of raising her two sons shattered when she finds a love letter to her late husband from his mistress. Kate is shocked to her core. She decides to get even in her mind by having a one-night stand with a man she just met, Randall Johnson. Randall is a self-made millionaire and can have any woman he wants. After their one night of passion, Randall cannot get Kate out of his mind. She is so different from the other women that have come and gone in his life. Randall will pull out all the stops to get Kate in his life. I just loved this book. I can't thank the person who recommended this to me enough. The passion and the connection between Kate and Randall will stay with you long after you are done reading the book.

A man I could fall in love with...,

This review is from: Bridge To Love (Paperback)
I want Randall - does that say it all. He's a hero that I could love in real life. He appreciates you in sneakers or in Victoria Secret. He can cook dinner, give you a good massage, and play soccer with the kids. A man who is secure enough in himself that he can let you be a woman. Also, the heroine is one of the few I've really liked. She's not a whinny pain in the tushie. She is you or me. I love this book and look forward to more from this author.

Could not put it down,
By Jim Staples (Loudon, NH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bridge To Love (Paperback)
Perhaps the greatest compliment I can give is to say that from about mid-way I could not put it down; the story and characters really got a hold on me. The dialog is terrific, and I felt strongly about the 'players' from the beginning (something very important to me as a reader).

A Bridge To Love,
By Lynn Freeman Scott (Glen Ridge, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bridge To Love (Paperback)
This is a great romantic read. I really enjoyed meeting and then getting to know A Bridge To Love's heroine, Kate Chilton. She is smart, sexy and a business woman! A heroine for a modern age. Kate sees her future change in an instant and then takes things in hand to mold that future. Along the way she runs into the most romantic of heroes, Randall Johnson. It was good fun to "ride along" with this romantic couple and their "sexy date" with the hood of a car. I highly recommend this book to lovers as well as readers of romance. As a new author, Nancy Herkness's star is definitely on the rise.

Undeveloped plot,

Kate's illusion of a perfect life vanishes in a moment. After being suddenly widowed, she finds out that her "faithful" husband had a mistress. Hurt and anger drive her to Randall Johson's bed. She thought a one night stand with a millionaire playboy would be a perfect revenge. Then, she would get on with her life, taking up the career she abandoned to become the ideal wife and mother. She even might consider marrying the old friend who has recently declared his love. That is not exactly how the plan works out, though. Randall finds that the sexy housewife might not be the type of woman who ususally wins his momentary affection, but she is certainly the kind to win his life long love. He become determined to secure a more permanent place in Kate's life, and there is little that will stop this cowboy when he sets his mind on something. ** Though appealing, this story relies too heavily on sensuality to drive an underdeveloped plot. Randall is definitely a winning hero, and it might be nice for the many who are Kates at heart, but there is just something missing. **

Kate Chilton is trying to put her life back together after being suddenly widowed a year ago. She meets sexy CEO millionaire Randall Johnson at a class reunion with a friend, and although Kate is attracted to Randall, she quickly realizes he's not her type. After all, she is a single mom of two adolescent boys, and a soccer coach with many fond memories of her happy marriage to her beloved David. While going through business documents of David's, she learns a devastating secret about her late husband - and his mistress. Kate feels the need to get even with David, and accepts Randall's dinner invitation, viewing it as the perfect excuse to put the past behind her. Neither Randall nor Kate are willing to accept their strong feelings for one another, but fate continues to throw them together - along with Randall's ability to control anyone and everything around him. Of course, the fact that Kate's boys, Clay and Patrick think Mr. Johnson is the greatest thing on earth doesn't hurt Randall's position in Kate's life one bit. This enjoyable romance stars an incredible lead in Kate, who has a plethora of emotions from the past and present to deal with. Randall means well, and in his love for Kate wants to give her everything - when all she wants is his heart. Will the engineer soccer mom and millionaire playboy be able to build a bridge to love? This debut novel from Nancy Herkness is a very entertaining book!

I stayed up WAY too late in order to finish this excellent romance! Appealing characters, witty dialogue, and very hot sex. Looking forward to next year's "Falling Stars". Very accomplished debut.

Though over a year has passed since her beloved husband David died, leaving her alone with two "adult" preadolescent sons, Kate Chilton still misses him after fourteen years together. At a party, she meets business mogul Randall Johnson, who invites her to dinner, but Kate declines, as she feels disloyal and not ready to date. Her memory of David undergoes a paradigm switch when an architectural partner of her late spouse drops off papers. Among the documents is a love letter from a Sylvia to "Dearest David" that was obviously more than a one-night stand. Hurt, but needing to move on, Kate agrees to go out with Randall for one night before she revives her engineering career. However, neither the playboy nor the soccer mom is ready for how deep is their love will become. This debut tale is an enjoyable contemporary romance starring a delightful lead female character struggling with a rainbow of emotions though Sylvia's letter makes it to easy for Kate to move on with her life. The support cast especially her children, her best friend, and Randall (even if his actions seem too heavy-handed) enable the audience to understand the feelings that are pounding at Kate's heart and brain. Nancy Herkness will be around for quite awhile if this tale is any indication of her writing skills. Harriet Klausner |
