x-treame Everest,
By a big fan (usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Summit (Everest, Book 3) (Paperback)
All of the books are GREAT.Book One: The Contest Book Two: The Climb Book Three: The Summit.I love them all. I felt sorry that Chris was cut becaue of his age. Perry should have told his uncle he was afraid to climb. I was very sad when Tilt died. Jerk or not. I love Gordon Korman`s books SO much that I`ve got the urge to turn the axis of motion vertical. To defy gravity and leave the ground in search of some impossibly distant summit. To CLIMB. I`ve nearly gone INSANE wanting to go vertical so badly. My gole in life is to climb Mt.Everest up and decend and live. Gordon Korman, I LOVE YOUR BOOKS!!!

Do you want to climb Everest?,

This review is from: The Summit (Everest, Book 3) (Paperback)
This book, Everest The Summit by Gordon Korman is the BEST book I have ever read. This book talks about 4 kids going to the tallest mountain on the face of the Earth, Mount Everest. They get there and they go through tests to see if they have what it takes to take on the mountain. And then finally they go through the test and the instructor Cap Cicero says that they are ready. If you want to find out what happens next... then you will have to read this GREAT book.

Everest Book Three: The Summit,

Everest Book Three; The SummitPeriod 1 In the exciting finale of Everest's Books by Gordan Korman Dominic get he last chance to summit Everest. Cap doesn't know that he is climing with Ethan Zaph and This Way Up team. If Cap doesn't know that he is climbing he can't lose his job. When Dominic reached 28,000 feet he ran out of oxygen and had to share Ethan's in order to survive. Cap found out that Dominic was climbing when he tune d the walkie talkie and heard the two of them cheering on the summit. He was mad that Dominic didn't tell him, happy that the kid got a chance to climb the moutain, and horrifired because a blizzard was coming. The only way to survive was to go on the oppisite of the mounatin and climb down to a German Expidition. As they were climbing , within the first five hours they ran out of oxygen. Winds were in triple digits and they were out of steamed exhuated and wanted to sleep. If you sleep at the altitude, which is about 27,200 feet, you would wake up dead. As they kept decending the found a pit of ice that would protect them from the winds. They slept that night and woke up fine with no frostbites of any type. As they kept climbing down they found out that they were near base camp. Cap and the rest of the team saw them and carried them down the rest of the way to camp two where there was hot food, breathable air, and a chance to sleep. My favorite part of the book was when Ethan and Dominic summited. I also enjoyed but it was short lived after the news of the blizzard. My least favorite was just that. The fact of the billazard tore it apart but made the book interesting. I would give this book to any of my friends to read. I think this story was good because of the team effort that the group gave to get to the summit of Everest as the world's youngest team to ever try. Tilt Crowley was pretty stubborn and messed it up for everyone. But they each gave it their all. I would recommend this book to all of my friend who like to read adventure books and would rate it a 5 out of 5. He did a job in this story of Everesters.

Man vs. Mountain-The Final Showdown,
By reader (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Summit (Everest, Book 3) (Paperback)
Climbing Everest is no small feat, even with the aid of modern technology, and the author illustrates that perfectly in this volume. His discriptions of climbing, hypothermia, friendship and danger are as accurate as they are entertaining and leave the reader wondering if the author is a climber, or even climbed Everest! With a very well devoloped plot and even more devoloped charecters, this is an exellent bundle of suspense that is certain to spark an intense interest in Everest no matter who the reader is.One thing that really struck me about this book is that, although the plot is very exiting and suspenseful, Korman still dosn't abandon the charecters and their devolopment for the sake of the plot, if you know what I mean. The charecters keep on devolping to the very end and overcome obstacles (especially the reluctant climber called Perry) even larger than Everest. And, the author offers glimpses into the charecters personal lives, (Sammi's electronic break-up with her boyfriend over e-mail comes readily to mind) something quite rare when it comes to modern, edge-of-you-seat children's action thrillers. In short, a great book with the perfect ingredients for a final clmiax, with a touch of spice cleverly added by a very talented author.

This is my favorite trilogy of all time! I've read it four times now, and I'm sure I will many more. You follow the youngest Everest expedition ever on a quest to reach the world's highest mountain. There are challenges, like bad weather, and then one of the four is terrorizing the others. One of them doesn't make it, and it's just a really realistic ending. Plus, they do get a new record holder to the top! It's a great book, and I recommend it to everyone I see!

This is the best book I have read in a very long time. I couldn't put down these books if I tried. The adventurous tale of the 4 youngest Everst climbers ever to attempt the peak is filled with truimph, tragety, and humor. The author does a great job of drawing you into the adventure of the story.Meet Dominic Alexis, 13 and small but a tough climber, Tilt Crowly, a heavy 14 year old, ... talking kid, Perry Noonan, a terrified 15 year old redhead, and Sammi Moon, a slightly crazy 15 year old girl. Add that together with Cap Cicero, the legendary climber who will lead this expedion, and throw the world's highest mountain into it all, then you have an absoulty fantastic story!I can't tell you enough how adventurous this story is. I mean, each kid almost dies about four times each! I read and reread this story over and over, and after it's done you're disappointed that it had to end.

This book is a great book for anybody who loves adventure, because these books (the Everest books) are very extreme. They have very intense parts. I liked that these books are not all action, there are good conversation parts, too. The characters are like real kids and they do what real kids would do. I would highly recommend these books to anybody nine and over.

Its 120 degreas below 0 on mount Everest and thats if your luky! This book is about a team of 4 Dominc, Tilt, Sammy and Perry. This book is the final of the triloligy and by far the best. The youngest person on the team at age 12! He gets held back beacuse the goverment will take Cap Cerrio climbing licence for climing everest! He ends up going with another team anyway though and is the youngest ever to climb it!I love this book because your there youre not at youre house or anywhere eles your on everest climbing with them. I started to cry at the end because someone dies on the face of everest they cant take him back etheir to heavy and mountin to steep. This is why you should read this book |
