3.0 out of 5 stars I bought this because of Amazon.ca reviews...
And I must say, I didn't enjoy it as much as I like the Gossip Girl/A- List books. I found Jamie to be a bit clingy, and Beth was the standard out of place girl with a best friend whose ugly but cute.
I also related uncomfortably to Ella. I know exactly what its like to be the girl who needs attention from guys and will do anything to get it.
I will read future...

i have to say though even though i love all 3 jaime was the least interesting, i enjoyed ella a bit more she was fun and wild but the whole beth situation got to me. i fell in love with her best friend/lover (o0o la la) george and their entire "romance."
i am the slowest reader and i finished this in a day and a half because i just couldnt put it down!! lol and i even confess that i was so in love with beth and george that i reread the chapters about them after i finished the book...prolly bc i was on a road trip and bored but oh well! lol
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer reading, Oct 16 2005
By
This review is from: Summer Boys (Paperback)
Reading other reviews it seems like this book only captures the eyes of some girls, but I am one of them. This book takes you into the summer life of four girls and their summer guy problems. Each chapter was about one character and what had happend to her during that time. It was a great read and it wasn't really super long. I'm currently reading the second book: Next Summer, and I'm still loving it. I incurage you to buy it, if not go to your library or a site on the internet to learn more about it.

I will read future books. If only to see what happens to Ella. If the author reforms Ella (as it appeared she would at the end of "Summer Boys") I will be horribly disapointed. I can tell you from experience that girls like us, we don't go quietly.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST SUMMER READ EVER!, Sep 4 2004
By
This review is from: Summer Boys (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed, actually, LOVED this book! I found it obviously to be a great read this summer and it was.
The basic plot of the story is: Last summer Jamie lost her virginity to a boy named Ethan, who seemed like the most amazing guy. They spent all of their time together and she was head-over-heels for him. This summer, however, when Jamie returns to her cottage, she realizes that, during their year apart Ethan doesn't fell the same way for her anymore. Jamie is deeply hurt and struggles to realize, that maybe she's better off without Ethan.
Beth is at her cottage with her best friend George and she is determined to find the perfect "Summer Boy". She wants a guy this summer that she can experience things with and she wants it badly. When George (somewhat a nerd) has a beautiful girl that wants to go out with him, Beth becomes very jealous and realizes that maybe all along her "Perfect Boy" was George. They've been friends for years and know everything about each other, so why not give it a go? Things are never that easy though, are they?
Ella is the "beautiful one". The one who all the guys like and when she see a guy playing in a band, at the festival this summer, he has to be hers. Once the band is done playing, she walks around looking for the lead singer only to find him, talking to her sister. Immediately she knows she must steal him away form her sister and have him for herself.
My favorite character was Beth definitely! The story between her and George is what any girl would want. A guy, who likes you for you and knows everything about you. Good and bad. George is romantic and caring, who wouldn't want him?
The thing I liked most about the book was, it was very realistic. Everything that the girls were going through was real and I couldn't help, exchanging them for myself while reading, especially when it came to Beth and George.
This is truly a GREAT READ!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Never Put it Down!, July 15 2004
By
This review is from: Summer Boys (Paperback)
Summer boys was one of those novels that almost any teenage girl can relate to. I found it funny, sad, and full of so many different emotions. There was backstabing, betrail and close bonds that could never have anything come between them. All of these things happen in everyday life and that is why i could relate so much to this novel. I reccomend it to anyone for an amazing summer reading about, love, friends, trust, and boys!

5.0 out of 5 stars New Author Abbott Writes Touching Story, July 11 2004
This review is from: Summer Boys (Paperback)
When I first requested this book from the library, it was one of those deals on Amazon where it says "Items Like This". I usually go by that and am not often dissapointed. I picked this book up and started reading it and at first I was no impressed until I became more intrigued about Beth and George's relationship. Thats part of the reason I continued reading this book. If you like the Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar, you will most likely enjoy this summer read. I hope Hailey Abbott writes another story about these characters!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, July 5 2004
This review is from: Summer Boys (Paperback)
Hailey Abbott did a spectacular job with writing this story. She needs to write many more! The story of Beth and George was the best. I only wish I had a guy best friend like Beth did. They had a beautiful story. As for Ella and Jamie's story, they were fun to read too. All the girls learned something valuable that summer, and the message it sends will make you smile. Definately read this book if you're into romance.

3.0 out of 5 stars George is a sweety but the other guys are....eh, Jun 28 2004
This review is from: Summer Boys (Paperback)
I really like Beth's story because it was cute and i came to love George. But, the other two girls were quite boring, Just skip the parts that are about them and read about George and Beth. If you read the back though, you'll basically understand the entire thing.
