5.0 out of 5 stars Every one likes dragons
The Fire Within is an amazing book because it was written very well and the characters are well described. The Fire Within takes place at the Pennykettle house. There are four main characters in this book. David is the central character and is a tenant of the Pennykettle's. Gadzooks, David's special clay dragon, is another character and he is always trying to help David...

The Fire Within is a book that needs a lot of imagination to picture in your mind. It is written by Chris D’Lacey who has also written two more books in this series, Icefire, then Fire Star. It takes place in Scrubbleyville, Massachusetts in modern times. The main characters are David, Lucy, and Liz. Lucy is 11 years old and likes dragons and squirrels. Liz is Lucy’s mother who is a housekeeper and dragon kilner. A dragon kilner is a person who makes clay dragons. David is their tenant who is 20, goes to Scrubbley College, likes reading and wrote a book for Lucy about squirrels. The story is about David and Lucy trying to save a squirrel named Conker. At the same time Liz makes a clay dragon for David. It is green and has a pencil and notepad in its paws. David names it Gadzooks. It writes single words that inspire David to write a book. But a crow is trying to kill Conker and David sometimes yells at Gadzooks for upsetting him. You have to love your dragon and if you make it upset, it will cry. If its tear hits the ground before the owner catches it, it will die. So will David make Gadzooks cry and will he and Lucy save Conker? Get this book to find out. In this book I thought the storyline was a bit corny because of clay dragons and squirrels, but I give this book a rating of 3 stars and recommend it to people 9-11.

The Fire Within is an amazing book because it was written very well and the characters are well described. The Fire Within takes place at the Pennykettle house. There are four main characters in this book. David is the central character and is a tenant of the Pennykettle's. Gadzooks, David's special clay dragon, is another character and he is always trying to help David. Liz is the owner of the house and treats David as one of the family. Lucy is Liz's daughter; she loves squirrels and is very animated.

When David gets a special dragon from Liz, his life turns upside down. Lucy tries to tell David that dragons really do exist, but David does not understand. I recommend this book to people ages 10 and up. It is also good for readers who enjoy dragons, fiction and nature.
