The art is a huge turn-off but I had heard good things about BOB and decided to give it a try. My 5 year old grasped the concept of the books immediately and started reading basic words, almost overnight. I've never seen anything like it. He devoured the whole set and built a foundation for reading that I don't think I could have developed for him on my own.

My son loves them.
We bought set 1 as well. He has been resistant at reading himself - once he made it through one of the early books in set 1, he was hooked. The books do a nice job in progressing slowly to build confidence with different words and word structures.

My daughter has been wanting to read but all the books at the store were too hard. I found out about these books from their iPad app, purchased them, and my daughter read the first four on the first day! She is so excited and motivated that she wants to read them over and over again!
Wish they had more at this level though as they quickly get harder.

We have two 4 year old twins, and both of them absolutely love these books. The Boy (TM) has plowed through the first set, so I've bought the second one. The Girl (TM) is going a bit slower, but she too really really enjoys them. The look of happiness when they put together a sentence is just awesome.

I bought the entire series for my first child when he was in Kindergarten, 7 years ago. I saved them and am now I am using them with my second child. I will save them for my third child when he is old enough to start learning. These books work great in tandem with the book Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. The 100 Easy Lessons gives me a method to teach my kids how to learn the phonetic sounds and then I let my children practice their reading independently, or with guidance using the BOB books. The BOB books provide my children with progressive success to build their confidence to become more proficient readers.

Bought this boxset for my 4 year old who is just beginning to read. It is perfect as every word is just 3 letters. I found it frustrating with many other books that claim they are for beginner reads and contain 4 and 5 letter words. With my help, my son can read every word in these books. I will probably buy the other sets as well.

Can't believe how quickly my 5 year old picked up the words. Helps build confidence as they move through each book.

My son apparantly had problems learning the alphabet at school and his teacher said that he seemed "slightly dyslexic". I have spent time with my child and I refused to believe what she said, I looked around for books that started with simple words and small sentences and gave the child a sense of achievement. I found my answer with these amazing books. These books focus on giving meaning to each sound with small words and sentences, gradually building the child's confidence to tackle longer sentences and then bigger words. I realized that my son is as good as any other child in his class, he just didn't like writing, he loves reading these books as he feels this is something that he can do by himself. I would strongly recommend these books to parents who want their children to start reading and have fun with it.

Even though this book is recommended for ages 4 plus, my 3 1/2 year old loves these books. It has really made him want to learn about letters and how they can make words. Teaching him to read with these books was a breeze. Worth the money for sure.

Bought them for my 4 year old son who wants to read. Pictures clearly illustrate the printed material. Short, easy books that he can read - makes him so proud. Great first books!
