4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and Entertaining
Book 6 in the series "A Women's Murder Club"

I am totally addicted to this series, all the books are simply fun and entertaining and this one is no exception. In the 6th target we find more than just a page turner with a great plot and many surprises, a real doze of adrenaline for the readers. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best in the series, but not terrible
I admit that I have been propelled through the series to this point largely by reading inertia; it was there, so I read it. Actually, I have a similar problem with dark chocolate, but that's besides the point. I enjoyed the books, but they weren't great enough that I would actually seek them out. Book 6 in the series "A Women's Murder Club"

I am totally addicted to this series, all the books are simply fun and entertaining and this one is no exception. In the 6th target we find more than just a page turner with a great plot and many surprises, a real doze of adrenaline for the readers. While we are engrossed in this mystery we get to know a little more about the members of this unusual Club and find ourselves immersed into their different life choices.

This one begins on a ferry boat, when six shots are fired killing four passengers and injuring one of the Club's members. Claire Washburn is now struggling for her life while the others fight to keep a madman behind bars before anyone else is hurt. If you like courtroom scenes the story has the typical exchanges between lawyers, witnesses and the accused. Yuki Castellano presents her first murder case with pizazz.

Meanwhile, San Francisco is plagued with a rash of other bizarre crimes. Children with their nannies are being plucked off the streets seemingly without any motive and Cindy Thomas finds her apartment building under siege by vandals. Amid the rising panic and the excitement, Police Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer juggles her personal life with the investigations.

Can things get more complex than this "Oh yes" thrown in is a touch of romance. This series is getting better and better with each installment.

Patterson again proves why he is the master of the popcorn thriller! (I call them this because there is really not much to his books, but like popcorn its hard to just take one bite!). I started this book last night and could not stop until I turned the last page. It was 2:30 AM and now I am paying for it. The four ladies of the woman's murder club are back in action. A series of kidnapings have the city of San Francisco twisted in knots, and it is up to Lindsy Boxer and her new partner to find the perp. Kids are being taken from the streets along with their Nannies, but no demands or ransom are being asked for? The twist in this one is magnificent! If you like Patterson and this series you know what to expect and will not be disappointed.

I admit that I have been propelled through the series to this point largely by reading inertia; it was there, so I read it. Actually, I have a similar problem with dark chocolate, but that's besides the point. I enjoyed the books, but they weren't great enough that I would actually seek them out. I find that they're entertaining, but slightly disjointed and unfocused in a way that makes it difficult for me to really get involved in the series. After reading book 6, though, I am dying for 7.

Did the plot get better? Actually, I found that this one was more disjointed than most, covering a random series of events that never quite seemed to flow in a way that made sense to me. No, what drew me in was the addition of a fantastic plot complication: the love triangle. That's right, there's trouble in the land of Lindsay and Joe, and there's a new love interest on the scene. Fans of the series may have an idea who it is, he of the provocatively leaning on doorways, smouldering eyes (how exactly does one get one's eyes to smoulder, anyway?) and swooning secretaries.

Like the tension between Morelli and Ranger that has me coming back to Stephanie Plum book after book, this complication has me committed to find out what happens next. But, if you, unlike me, cannot be swayed by the desire to find out who gets together with who, you might want to skip this book, because it didn't have much else to recommend it. Hope the next one is better, plot-wise.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Little, Too Fast, Dec 3 2007
This review is from: The 6th Target (Hardcover)
I was rather surprised at how short this book was in the collection. It seemed that the author had a deadline to meet and this was the best he could do. Given how much I enjoyed the previous books in this series - I was disappointed in this one.
