Pendergast Resuscitated,
By Jeffrey Swystun (Mont Tremblant, Quebec & Airplanes) - See all my reviews (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

Preston and Child's collaborations (and individual efforts) have provided me with hours and hours of reading entertainment. I am fond of their Aloysius Pendergast character who takes inspiration from Sherlock Holmes, The Shadow, Jason Bourne, Bruce Wayne and many more. The series featuring this intriguing FBI agent has within itself a sub-trilogy dealing with Pendergast's wife Helen (Two Graves follows Fever Dream and Cold Vengeance). This entry continues to profile their trademark thriller and mystery twists. It represents a bit of a resurgence in the series that I felt had been dragging and become repetitive. I also felt Pendergast had worked best when he was a curious enigma but over time the authors were forced to reveal more and more about his past and capabilities. Two Graves erased this objection as the agent is once again interesting but for different, compelling reasons. Congratulations to the authors for resuscitating the series.

The cliffhanger from the previous book was resolved, no cliffhanger this time (thank heavens!), and it was a good read.

Wow. A fantastic conclusion to this part of the series. This book literally kept me up an entire night. The way Preston and Child interweave characters amongst their novels, growing and changing them without ever losing their central integrity, is fantastic.

This is a totally different book about Pendergast. The storyline is very riviting and held my interest right to the end. I love how they come up with different storylines. I have read all the Pendergast books and will read them again and again. Giving him a reason to live by giving him a son was a brillant idea. I recommend this as a very good read.
