First, a few of my overall gleanings about The Search.

# We are spirits in human bodies.

# Our destiny/evolution somehow involves whether we collectively decide that since we are human, do we reach for and wish to achieve the divine and spiritual in each of us (because when we all are mindful of God, it actually creates God) OR, do we wish to remain animals like all the rest of God's creatures--to encourage our animal/beastly natures with simple desires, intuitions, and thus, in doing so, remain strictly of the Earth?

# There is generally more good than bad in life. Like Camus says, it is Sisyphusian even though we all ain't in rock rolling maintenance. And it is definitely worth living. You can get more of the goodness from life by focusing on the good/positive in any circumstance...even if there may be inconceivable pain and suffering involved. Like Frankl also says.

# I am quite sure a whole lotta people, some of them famous and great, have come up with something very similar thoughts and conclusions to the items I've listed above, but they are basic musings. OK...what do these musings have to do with Redfield's book?

Right. See, in the mid to late 1990's a handful of so-called New Age writers, self help authors, and televangelists were putting together their portfolios, so to speak, on the prediction, and, in their minds, "the need" for some kind of spiritual upheaval/spiritual explosion associated with the coming of the New Millenium. Some may say they are blessed with vision, others may say they are in it for personal gain. It ain't my intent to debate all the individual motivations here. But, during that time, Marianne Williamson comes out with a new book, Shirley McLaine comes out with a new book, Ken Wilber comes out with a new book, the Dalai Lama....

And Redfield. But, note. They are very similar. But, note. We everyday people don't get the basic messages of what they are saying until it either gets real, real close to it being too late or alas, it is ALREADY too late...so, mebbe, with another new voice out there sharing the message in their own style, SOMEONE may get the basic lesson. That's the real beauty of having so many of these visionaries out there.

Redfield may not be a new voice but certainly he has more than a few ways of getting your attention. Of this book, I found his subchapter on how it seems that the emergence of Einstein and Bohr and Pauli and Heisenberg and the new Quantum Physicists (and the adoption of the scientific paradigm which diverted from the Old Newtonian mechanistic world view) began to parallel the beginning of the western world's examination and adaptation of Eastern religion and thus what Redfield says is the beginnings of the (re)discovery of the Human Energy Field quite elegant in it's simplicity. (He did not, however, much mention how WW II influenced evverything during that this era he was speaking of, and to me, that is quite an oversight..) His exploration of the Jungian Synchronistic world view is also deftly done. While I do not get into the mystical experience and dream scaping he likes to go into and I don't see the need to go thru a lot of what's he saying to have an illuminating spiritual experience, I do think if some folks need what he's telling them to get to one, then, in a phrase "it's all good". (Kinda like what the positive vibing in synchronicity is supposed to be about.)

Overall, it is a good book because I feel that the start of the transforming self begins at home, and ultimately to the rest of the universe...the reader must simply START THE JOURNEY, and then, in a way, the universe DOES become more responsive....Redfield shows us one way to do this. He does the Basics. And he puts his spin on how everyday people can obtain the spiritual....

I have always wondered about the dreams that came true,thinking of people and seeing them same day,being hesitant between two decisions and getting the hint to choose one of them. I have always wondered about the behaviour of people in society and why they behave in the way they do.This book answers these questions and many more.i think you have to be a believer in God to be able to absorb the ideas presented by the auhtor.He takes you in spiritual journeys high up to afterlife and back to before birth and makes you cotemplate the profound ideas in the book.After I finshed reading the book i want to read it again to fully absorb the magnificent ideas presented in it. I strongly advice reading it by those who are wondering about life and our mission in it for the writer emphasises that we are all here on missons for the welfare of humanity.

The Celestine Vision is a #1 New York Times Best Seller. This book definitely opened my eyes to things I had never really thought about before. This book explains some of the deep, moral and spiritual happenings that occur in life. It exploits a further understanding of who we are and why certain mystical experiences occur in our lives. This book gives insight on how to obtain a more perceptive eye on abstract reality. It can help you obtain a relationship with creating a larger awareness of spirituality. This book, in my opinion, can guide one down a brighter, more feasible path for the future of consciousness. If you want to challenge your mind and practice on becoming more powerful as a human being, this is a truly profoundly insightful book to read, that will better your understanding.

Good fun and inspirational to read.
This books describes the basic philosophy behind his novels.
I would say: skip the novels and read this book.
Redfield kind of mixes lot of spiritual stuff together but
it still makes sense.

This isnt a feeling or a self help book, its a way of thinking. Mr. Redfield makes his reader feel "in the know" and engaged in the flow of the book. Highly intuitive and meticulously thought out. Or perhaps not at all. It is afterall, your perception that should matter, not mine. to you anyway:)

The book is slightly interesting, but I would not recommend purchase because there are many other works on the same topic that offer greater insight.

In this book, the author James Redfield attempts to "logically" codify his New Age beliefs in a "non-fictional" self-help type format. If you weren't sure what the author considered real or unreal in his fictional books, or if you were not sure that the author really actually believes in all the stuff he wrote about in his books, you won't have any doubts after reading this book.

Consider some of the following all-important and awe-inspiring chapters: "Working Through Past Life Difficulties" - man, I am still working on this life, never mind the last one! "Birth Vision" which informs us that before we were born we made a conscious choice of who our parents were to be and what was the purpose of our coming. And my personal favorite, the ever-important, always mystifying, very illuminating chapter on "Choosing Our Seating in a Public Place". I mean, you know how hard it is to choose that perfect seat in a restaurant, right? Well consider the following quote:

"Intuition and luminosity also work well in helping us choose a seat at a restaurant or meeting, for example, especially in those meetings where we are interacting with other people. When entering such a space, if we pay close attention, one place or another will stand out and become more luminous."

The author first informs us that we must insist that the waiter give us that "glowing table", then tells us that "many times, such a process has led me to synchronistic conversations" and finally proceeds to describe a recent event in his life.

Wow! Talk about being inspirational! Well, I don't know about you but that certainly helped me. I hope your life will be enlightened by these illuminating truths.

The Redfields are true pioneers in the field of separating 'religion' from 'spirituality'. Jesus spoke of a time when we would set 'doctrines' aside, and worship God as God... the Source of all Good. The Guide to our greatest possibility. This couple has spent years on the journey that we all must, eventually, face. Their insight, ( for those who will accept it), is a keystone to understanding the transition that we all, someday, will make. Relax... God DOES love you!

I will not deny the urgency and inspiration of "The Celestine Prpophecy", but this sequel is read in an afternoon and forgotten the next day. There are true spiritual classics being written even in the nineties, witness "Tibetan book of living and dying" and "Final gifts", and compared to these accessible yet substantial works, Redfield`s books come across as a travesty - find them flooding the Auctions section in a short time to come.

This book is James Redfield at his best. James helps to become more familiar with our spiritual side and to study the coincidences in life to help shape our spiritual destiny going into the 21st Century. The book chronicles one man's journey to find himself and the answers to the universe and to the age old question, "Why are we here on this planet?" His journey leads him to South America where he meets many people like himself who are looking for the celestine prophesies. These prophesies are said to hold the key to the understanding of the universe and why we are here. I often find myself asking myself the question, "What am I here on this planet to accomplish?" The Celestine Prophesy helps to understand the possibilities of life more clearly. They say God works in mysterious ways, God can work through the coincidences in life as answers to prayer. This book helps to understand these coincidences and unlock a whole new world of possibilities. This is not just a philosophical book, it also contains action and a little romance. I highly recommend this book to all people who are seeking more out of life.
