This review is from: Clandestine Courtship (Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading this book but it is far from being Allison Lane's best (that would be "The second Lady Emily"). The story is about a man who after ten years absence returns home in order to find out who murdered the beast his twin brother was. For this he seeks the help of his former childhood friend Mary with whom he falls in love. The hero thinks a little too much with his groins (otherwise the book is chaste enough) and is quite stuborn, but is likeable enough. The heroine is clever and self-reliant (like all heroines in Lane's books), but only to an extent still believable for the time setting. The crime story in this book gives a nice plot. However, I was a little disappointed when the murderer turned out to be somebody barely mentioned in the book.
