5.0 out of 5 stars 'Life on the Other Side' is favorite Sylvia Browne book for this reader!
This book was my favorite out of the four that I've read from Sylvia Browne. It touched on some details already mentioned in 'The Other Side and Back' but went further by going into much greater detail about life on the other side in a step-by-step format. If the very idea of the 'scanning machine' didn't make a person re-think their future actions and words, I don't...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great story, but is it for real?
I bought this book the first day it came out and I was very into it. I have everything by this author and was always a huge fan. But recently I've been wondering about her credibility, and "psychics" in general. I've subscribed to Sylvia's newsletter for the last few years and almost NONE of her predictions come true. In fact, only after something happens does she...

This book was my favorite out of the four that I've read from Sylvia Browne. It touched on some details already mentioned in 'The Other Side and Back' but went further by going into much greater detail about life on the other side in a step-by-step format. If the very idea of the 'scanning machine' didn't make a person re-think their future actions and words, I don't know what would! Discusses primary and secondary life themes and it just might provide you the opportunity to understand a few people in your life a bit better, realizing that we are all at different levels on our soul's journey. Not sure what to believe about life on the other side? This book may just be the idea you were waiting with bated breath to grab on to, and in the process have you looking forward to going home.

5.0 out of 5 stars glowing, Jan 20 2012

Both the product and the service were excellent. Oh, and did I mention price? The mailing costs almost dwarfed the product costs. But many thanks for making the book available and the prompt service at "crunch time" just before Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good!, May 8 2004

I think that Sylvia's book is a great read. And very genuine. Yeah, it does tell me everything I want to hear, but shouldn't that be what heaven is all about. It wouldn't be heaven if it wasn't as good as she says it is. Sylvia has definitly proven herself. I would recommend this book to people with an open mind, and people that dont use stupid arguments like 'oh she is just trying to make money', and people that dont already decide wheather they believe or not before they even read the first page, and to people with common sense, and to mature people. Because most of the bad reviews come from immature people who said exactly what my 14 year old friend said (hes very immature)

4.0 out of 5 stars This book will change the life of an open-minded person., Aug 25 2003

If you keep an open mind, this book will change your life. It offers a very interesting perspective on the universe and our functions in it, surprisingly similar to my own previous beliefs. If for no other reason, it's worth the interesting topic. I only gave it four stars because certain parts of the book seem just a little too far-fetched or maybe a little too specific in descriptions, but hey! She probably knows a lot more than I do, anyway.

Certainly, if one has pre-conceived notions about the other side and "salvation" (E.G. many fundamentalists) then this book will be hard to read.

However, to truly objective/open-minded readers, this book will stand out as one the greatest books ever written.

Many of its teachings are hard to accept but Sylvia gives good reason to accept them, while at the same time encouraging healthy skepticism!

No matter what life brings us, Sylvia says, our beloved ones on the other side are always cheering us on!

When I started reading this book, I noticed a remarkable difference in my physical and emotional health. I began to truly be at peace with life and myself. My best friend cookie---whom I love deeply---also noticed these changes in my state of health/well being.

After reading this book, objective persons will never look at life the same way again!

5.0 out of 5 stars A good feeling and the ring of Truth., Jan 22 2003
By

This review is from: Life on the Other Side (Mass Market Paperback)
I've always had a good feeling about Sylvia Browne, and that good feeling carries over to this book. It has a definite ring of truth to it. The idea that we choose our own life path, themes, and challenges before we incarnate sounds especially truthful (we select the challenges that will produce the most growth and spiritual benefit for those around us.) However, if you are like me you may find yourself wondering just what you were thinking to have given yourself this many challenges....
Alot of the criticism of this book seems to center around it being too specific in its details of the other side. The thing to remember is that Browne has been given details and images that were meaningful and graspable for her. Since space and time are very, very diferent on the other side you can count on these specific images just being a mask for the true reality. Yet, upon saying this, I know that I have seen the building she calls the "Hall of Wisdom" in a very vivid dream....
The listing of the 44 life themes in the appendix is also very interesting and useful. You find yourself trying to identify the primary and secondary themes of everyone you know. In my own case I believe that it is #1 Spirituality and #2 Loner.
My only real criticism with the book concerns the discussion of suicide. From my observations the vast majority of suicides are victims- and God would NEVER punish someone that has already been victimized.

I had just begun this book when my sisters cancer (after 11 years) took a turn for the worse. I read this while she was fading away and it was such great comfort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening & Comtemplative, Jun 14 2002

This review is from: Life On The Other Side (Hardcover)
As humans we are naturally skeptical. Some of us are also curious creatures and have many questions of what it's like once we leave this Earth. At least I can say that about myself. This is why Ms. Browne asks us, "What do you think?" in her book, Life On The Other Side; A Psychic's Tour of the Afterlife. She shares her lifetime of experiences, her beliefs in God and enlightens us to what the future may hold. I thank her for giving me the choice to believe what I wish to believe instead of demanding I believe everything she writes.
Whether she has a spirit guide named Francine who communicates with her or not is irrelevant. What is important is the simple message she is trying to convey not only in this book but in all of her writings; ~ Love God and have Faith in Him ~
I found this book to be most inspirational to say the least. I have come away from reading it with more of a sense that we do have a reason for being here, our loved one's who have crossed over are still with us and we will join them once again when we reach the other side. It's nice to think that the Afterlife is a beautiful and harmonious place... I'm looking forward to it when my "time" here is done. Until then, I will continue to read and be inspired by Ms. Browne's books. Thank You Sylvia!

5.0 out of 5 stars Answers to a reader from Syracuse, May 22 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Life on the Other Side (Mass Market Paperback)
The answers to the questions asked in the review below are already contained in the book, as follows.

(1) "If the Other Side is all-perfect and all-good, then why does earth exist?" Browne says that the purpose of physical environments such as earth is for us to incarnate and experience negativity in order to build spiritual muscle and promote wisdom and growth. It would be difficult to build spiritual muscle in a challenge-free environment (the Other Side), so we choose to come to earth to face challenges and trials, in a similar way that we would take trips to the gym on earth to build physical muscle. A life on Earth enables us to advance spiritually quicker than we advance by living exclusively on the Other Side.

(2) "What is the Dark Side?" Browne says that The Dark Side is a place where misguided souls reside for a while. Even though the Other Side is perfect and good, we all have free will. If we had no free will, then we would be conditioned, like robots, to constantly live in the Light of the Other Side. This would run contrary to principles of love, as love will always endow the beloved with freedom of choice. God IS love, and the polarity of Light (the Dark Side) must necessarily exist in order for the full scope of Wisdom to exist. Browne says that souls take themselves to the Dark Side by freely exercising evil, and thus experiencing the results of their karma, (i.e. action - cause and effect - of free choice.) The book says that souls cannot reside in the Dark Side forever, however, because God loves all His children. As Jesus expressed in the parable of the prodigal son, God waits for us patiently with open arms, and we will eventually return to the Light, which is our heritage.

(3) Browne says that before incarnating on earth, we undergo a process that guarantees that we will accomplish the goals that we set ourselves. Browne also says that these goals span over multiple lives, and that we will often return from an incarnation to the Other Side with a feeling of "unfinished business". We then feel impelled to incarnate again to carry on accomplishing our goals, in a step-by-step manner, taking us closer to accomplishing the ultimate goal - soul-perfection and God-enlightenment. We can have as many lives on earth as we wish, and all our goals will ultimately be accomplished. Thus, it is guaranteed. We cannot escape our destiny.

(4) As to Browne's references to the Bible, well, individual interpretations of the Bible are as varied and subjective as people are varied and subjective. Let us seek our own inner-wisdom, ask God for guidance, and be at peace with our own personal interpretation, while keeping an open mind, and a willingness to learn and expand.

We can broaden our scope and understanding of life on the Other Side by turning to books such as 'A World Beyond' by Ruth Montgomery, 'Reaching to Heaven' by Van Praagh, and 'Journey of Souls' by Michael Newton.

Regards,

Andy

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Eye Opener, Feb 11 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Life on the Other Side (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is a real eye opener. The idea of an afterlife always appealed to me but nobody could convincingly tell me what to expect from first hand experience. This is where Sylvia comes in and takes you on a guided tour. Among the many attractions, I was delighted to find out that the best ski slopes are waiting for me there - only you never get tired, there is no bad weather to annoy you & the temperature stays a constant and comfortable 78 degrees. Also, she talks about libraries in the afterlife where you have an unlimited selection to read from. I'll have to find some way to become discontented with skiing to bring myself to visit the library as I'm sure there won't be enough time for me on earth to read all of Sylvia's books. She continues to expand her range and is even delving into "Animals on the Other Side" where she describes how after developing enough spiritual muscle here on earth, animals run alongside their eternal companions in eternal bliss. Hopefully Sylvia will continue to expand her range of fascinating reading (i.e. Aquatic Life on the Other Side, Insects on the Other Side)
