fabulous cookbook,
By Becky (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bon Appetit Cookbook, Special Edition: Fast Easy Fresh (Hardcover)
This is a fabulous cookbook! What better way to get all of the best recipes Bon Appetit has produced over the years - and in in one handy volume ...Each recipe I've tried has been outstanding - and I've tried a slew! Not one dud yet! The recipes are easy yet flavourful. The manner in which the book is set up is also smart. Instead of the ubiquitous chapters on appetizers, main courses etc., this cookbook devotes chapters to types of foods ie. a whole chapter on chicken, a whole chapter on salmon, a chapter on brunches and the list goes on. That's brilliant - and easy for a cook who has no time... You want to make chicken? All the chicken recipes all grouped together! And the recipes are varied and interesting, you can find Asian, Moroccan, Mexican, French recipes. And as a final touch, the recipes are printed in a really nice font on paper that's nice to the touch. I only have good things to say about this book. If I had to choose only one cookbook to have on hand, this would be it!

I completely agree with the other reviewer on this...the recipes are simple to follow, laid out logically, the book both looks and feels beautiful. With over 1,000 recipes, it's a more of a tome than a simple cookbook, and I've made something new from it every single day since I got it last week. The thing I love the most about it, is that (so far, at least) there's very little running around looking for obscurely hard to find items, it truly is fast, easy and fresh. Most ingredient lists are relatively short, contain things I already have on hand, or can be found locally with little trouble. I imagine this will be the cookbook I turn to if not daily, then very nearly for a long time to come. And fast? Nothing I've made so far has taken longer than half an hour, start to finish...and what's not to love about that?
