Great product that explains in detail how touse this camera. The camera is for semi-pros and when you are a beginner in photographie, this book really helps you to understand the powerful device you are using. The pictures inside this book, make the learning much easier and everything is explained for you to really understand all the functions. The book is actually pretty easy to read. The print is a reasonable size for people hate small print. All in all, really worth the investement. Enjoy.

Not worth it,
This review is from: Canon EOS 7D For Dummies (Paperback)
I own a lot of "Dummies" books and have always been satisfied but not with this one.I think that if you buy a Canon 7D, you are not a beginner nor are you a dummy in digital photography. Yet that book insists on primary advices. I wanted to know more about the complexity and the number of buttons, the great range of features and functions specific to the 7D. You will not find more in that book that what Canon gives you in their own manual!

This book has it all! A Job Well Done!,

This review is from: Canon EOS 7D For Dummies (Paperback)
I bought the Canon EOS 7D camera first. Of course, I read the manual and worked with the camera. But I felt like I was missing something important. So I browsed through the books and decided on the http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/0470595914/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title book. I didn't expect much. But WOW, this book has it all!I need any instructional book to be clear, easy to read, not be boring, and tell me stuff I need to know. Author Doug Sahlin, a professional photographer in southwest Florida, does all of this. The book reviews important photographic concepts to make sure the reader is at the level they should be to understand what he's written. But they should be there, right? After all, they did buy a 7D. So he doesn't agonize over the basics, but states them to ensure understanding. And he does it all with a hilarious sense of humour. I often found myself chuckling out loud at his quips and comments. The parts of the book I found particlularly helpful were his reviews and actual personal recommendations on what custom settings to place in the camera, and WHY. Or WHY NOT. Also very helpful were the author's recommendations based on his professional experience on how to get the best results for particular types of photo shoots. For example, he suggests how to set up the camera to get the best results for sports, nature, landscapes, etc. I read this book from beginning to end, with the camera in my lap, and it worked out great. Thanks to Doug Sahlin, and taking lots of photos, I can now quickly change settings "on the fly" and not lose the shot I wanted to take. This is the first instructional book that I have felt so positively about it that I personally contacted the author and congratulated him on a job well done. And I'm repeating that "job well done" here for Amazon readers and Canon 7D owners. This is one book that I'll be keeping for future reference.Canon EOS 7D For Dummies

complicated kit made easy,

I got this camera for Christmas and was overwhelmed by its abilities. This book takes the reader through all the buttons and knobs untill it all makes sense. There are parts that seemed a little too simplified, but of course, we all come at this with our own experience and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to "Forest Gump" the whole process. I can always skip the bits I already know.
