Straight To The Point,
By Marisa Antonello (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
There is much to say about this book, its message and how it has affected me.But here it is in a nutshell: let's not kid ourselves any longer, or offer excuses for why we don't do what we should do. This book is a MUST-HAVE for anyone interested in becoming a real human being. Simple. Straightforward. Inspiring. It presents the world as it realistically is and as it idealistically should be; the key to effecting this change being selfless, united effort. It's the 'Golden Rule' philosophy and the 'No Man Is An Island' realization at their enlightening and practical best. Stocking stuffers for everyone who means anything to you. M. Antonello

A Me to We Movement for a Better World Great Idea!,
By Linda Qi (Beijing, China) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
I am currently studying in China and was given the book Me to We book by a Canadian friend who came to visit this week. Having lived in Canada most of my life, I am very familiar with the work of Craig and Marc Kielburger. I was privileged to hear Craig speak at university and I also read his book Free the Children which I really found quite inspiring, especially considering his age at the time. In the past year, I have also learned more about his school building campaign in rural China where many poor children are in desperate need of schools.I loved Me to We not only because it consisted of great motivational and inspiring stories of wonderful people like Oprah, but also those of ordinary people like Tim Lefens, a very self-centered artist who found his soul in the most handicapped and helpless people, Kathy Buckley (a comedian and writer) whose story made me laugh and teary eyed at the same time and Jonathan White whose small act of kindness to an old woman at the check out counter of a grocery store reminds us all how we can bring so much joy to others and to ourselves in the smallest actions. Although I was familiar with a couple of Craig¡¯s stories and adventures, there were many new ones from him and his brother that I enjoyed reading. I thought that it was an important part of the book for them to share as it helps people to better understand what inspires them in their work. I think the Me to We message is so important! It is so easy to become caught up in all of the advertising today that conditions us to believe that happiness lies in accumulating material things rather than developing intimate relationships and finding personal meaning through our contribution to the world and to others. I saw this in North America and now I see the same thing happening with young people in China, as they become more open to the world and their economy develops. Long hours of work, strong competition, little time for family or friends or people they care about as they work to accumulate the many possessions that advertisers lead them to believe will make them happy. Finally, I think the idea of the suggestions at the end of the book on how we can all change our own lives Ceven write our own story to change the world were great. Unlike most books of inspirational stories, Me to We is also a balance between theory for reflection and ideas for action. I specifically checked out Amazon.ca to see if the book was listed because I wanted to encourage others to buy the book and to start living the Me to We philosophy. I think if we all gave it a try, the world may just be a better place for everyone. Thanks for all of your fine work, Marc and Craig. You are an inspiration to people of all ages! Linda Qi

An important book for all ages,
By Carol Richmond (Richmond Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
Writing reviews is usually not my style. As a reader, however, who has bought several copies of this book through amazon.ca both for my friends and myself, I felt compelled to express my opinion on Me to We. In a world where the false promises of media, advertisers and competition so often leave us bruised and in search of meaning and happiness, a Me to We philosophy for living is so important for all of us. Me to We not only helps illustrate how we are all interconnected and interdependent but also how we can find purpose, meaning and fulfilment by opening ourselves up to others and sharing those special God-given gifts each and everyone of us has. One does not need to be a president or prime minister, a Bill Gates or a Nelson Mandella to change the world. Each of us can leave our special mark on society by finding our own special talents and sharing these with others. In the process not only do we help to make the world a better place but we also become better and happier people. Me to We combines both a philosophy for living and examples of this philosophy from people of all ages. The stories are real, heartfelt, poignant, inspiring and can be duplicated. An important book for all ages!

Get out and make a difference!,

This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
The story of young men Craig and Mark Kielburger is inspirational in itself. In their book Me to We, they truly inspire you to start making a difference. All the stories, not just the ones of celebrities, are fun and encourage you to start doing something. This is not just another self-help book! This book will change what you think about when you eat, cook, or sleep! Every 3.6 seconds someone in the world dies from hunger (75% of whom are children) and you have the power to change that. I recommend not only buying this book, but especially buying Take Action! and Free the Children as well!

It's all about we,
By A Customer
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
I believe that our generation is so lost, we forgot that true happiness comes from within, it does not depend on money, or materials but in the goodness of our soul, in giving, and reaching out to people.Me to We challenges the society that we are living in - a society that is too tied up in ourselves that we don't have time to look beyond us. We have closed ourselves off from our neighbours, we have worked ourselves too hard. WE have lost touch with our souls. It's time to start caring about others and stop thinking about ourselves.

Truly Amazing.......,
By A Customer
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
I have read a lot of self-help books but this one really spoke to me. This was one of the first self-help books that was loaded with studies and stats that really backed it up. But what really sold me on this style of life were the stories. The stories by the celebrities were really good but the ones that affected me most were the ones written by unknown people like me. So after reading this book I decided to give the "We" philosophy a try. I went and worked with the homeless and I have never felt so good before. This book is definitely 5 stars and I would recommend it for any age.

Inspirational and motivating,
By A Customer
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
This book is unlike any other "Self-Help" book I have read. It makes you think about you who are as a person and how you fit into our world. The stories are amazing - from Richard Gere, Oprah Winfrey, to the stories of non-celebrities. Each story is honest and not only makes you feel good about yourself, but also helps to make you realize that you can do something similar. If you are tired of all of the other ridiculous self-help books out there, read this one - it is unlike anything else that you may have read. Enjoy!

Reaching out to relationships,
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
This book taught me so much about the importance of relationships and connecting with other people as a source of happiness. It can be so challenging sometimes as people are complex and the authors provide an excellent source of motivation.I also enjoyed "The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book" as a source for understanding others as well as my emotions. It also lets you test your EQ online.

Talk about a challenge!!,
By robin (Chicago, Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Me to We: Turning Self-Help On Its Head (Paperback)
Talk about a challenge!! A book written with sincerity and foresight, it brings to focus the movement of our generation. I've always felt a rebellious energy inside me, but I never knew its purpose or cause. This book collects the energy in so many of us today, and provides a healthy outlet. Me to We not only challenges our direction as a culture, but also shows how much of an impact our lives have in truly reaching our goals for the world. It challenges each individual reader to live with passion in our daily lives and choices. As a young woman learning my place in the world, this book is giving me many ideas I value as noble and achievable.
