This review is from: Anne Orr's Afghans to Crochet and Knit (Paperback)
That said, I would not have bought this in a real life bookstore. Photos are mostly black & white, which makes them hard to follow. Directions are sketchy by modern standards. Lastly I am a knitter and they are mostly crocheted afghans.

This review is from: Anne Orr's Afghans to Crochet and Knit (Paperback)
Anne Orr's Afghans to Knit and Crochet is a classic that no needleworker's library should be without. Even if you never make one of these afghans, the designs can be used in so many ways. There is a chart of an Old English Alphabet. I can see one big, bold initial crocheted into a seat cover. If you lke to cross-stich, try the beautiful horse head motif taken from the sleigh robe, and work it onto a denim shirt. The children will be delighted with an Unusual Afghan depicting circus motifs. Most of the crocheted afghans are worked in the Tunisian stitch. The knitted patterns are easy but there is a patternfor a baby afghan that includes a lacey edging the looks a bit advanced. Ann Orr was a prolific pattern writer and here you will find samples of her best known work. There are black and white photos and illustrations. The front and back cover are in color.
