One of the funnyest books I have ever read.,

This is my 1st book by Lisa I have read & I have never laughed so much in my life.Being from the 20th century, Elle is trying to find her way around the late 18th century & doesn't understand their customs. The scene in the dinning room had me howling with laughter. Elle walked into the dining room & found one of her guests peeing into a chamber pot next to where she eats her dinner. Lawrence, the poor man was mortified when she lamblasted him in front of her husband & other guest about his & other mens habits. She does apologise to him though the next morning. When she finds out he is an engineer she has him design a flushing toilet & shower. Her husband thinks she is having an affair with Lawrence when he overhears them arranging to meet in secret in her dressing room. Believe me you will love this book, it has everything, fairy magic, passionate love scenes & laughter. Thank you Lisa for this story, it definately brightened up my day & still makes me laugh when I think about it.

I really enjoyed The Changeling Bride! Cach creates very believable characters. And against all odds, she makes the magical, time travel story 'logical.' I really enjoy time travel romances, and I highly recommend this book to readers with similar tastes.

Time travel, fairies &a cute dog what more could you want?,

This review is from: The Changeling Bride (Paperback)
This is the first book I've read by Lisa Cach and it won't be the last. I really enjoyed this book. I liked the fact that the hero was more like an average man. He wasn't extremely tall or very muscular. The heroine was a modern woman who deals quite well with the fact that she has been flung back in time to a period where women were under strct constraints and I'm not just talking about the clothes. The story starts off with Wihelmina, or Elle as she likes to be called, given a note by a homeless person in modern times. She doesn't even look at the paper until she is out with her dog on a walk. The note reads "Coupon Good for: one free husband. Redeem at will". She looks up into the sky and waves the coupon states the she wants to redeem her coupon. She thinks its just a joke when all of the sudden she is surrounded by fairies and they transport her back in time to be the wife of Henry. Henry's bride to be Eleanor is who she is replacing. Henry has no idea anything is different because they apparently look the same. She decides to go along with it so that she can at least get the wedding. I mean every girl dreams of a big wedding with all the trimmings. Then she will go back to her time. Only that doesn't happen. She seems stuck in 1790 with a husband who she doesn't know but is very attracted to. Henry doesn't quite know what to make of his bride. She doesn't seem like the person he met before but he likes this person better. He is puzzled by her lack of knowledge about running a household and her ideas about birth control but can't help but fall for her. Elle fights her feelings for Henry and when she finally lets him into her heart she thinks that she must leave him and go back to her time. This tale is wonderfully written and it made for a very enjoyable read. I look forward to other books by this author.

Good read -- but why bash Rush?,
This review is from: The Changeling Bride (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book. It was funny and engrossing and I enjoyed the period details that too many books skipped over. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I did not mind that fairies caused the time travel. After all, time travel itself is a fantasy, so if we accept time travel for the purpose of the book, we can accept fairies as well. The fairy part wasn't overdone anyway. The one thing that dismayed me was that the author took the time -- in a Georgian romance, yet! -- to bash Rush Limbaugh and, by extension, all of his fans. As one of his fans I was offended by her cavalier statement that Rush and people who think the way he does (pretty much every conservative in America) are illogical, inaccurate and cruel. We conservatives obviously disagree with her assessment of us, but in my view the pages of a Georgian romance are not the place to debate politics. The author writes a decent novel, but if she must inject politics into them, I suggest that she should try to understand where the people she disagrees with are coming from, and respect our right to hold a different view even if she disagrees with us (i.e., not cheap insults), so her comments about conservatives don't offend her conservative readers.

A fun, sexy, historical romance with a twist,
By
This review is from: The Changeling Bride (Paperback)
By the time I finished this book I was in tears. Thankfully the tears stemmed from my joy in having the book end just the way I would have hoped for. The premise for this story -- someone going back in time and having to deal with things they're not used to -- is not a fresh idea. But the way it is told in this story is. This book was fun, spunky, sexy, and full of romance. If you ever wondered how you'd feel if you were transported back in time, then read this book to find out. After finding herself transported back in time, Wilhelmina reacts in ways that I think I would act if I found myself in her predicament. She reacts to things in ways that women in historical times would not, which puts her in one predicament after another as she tries to hide her true identity in order to fit in. Her actions, which ring true, make it very easy to get immersed in the story. And to top it off, she finds herself entangled with a gorgeous man that has a sensitive side. What more can you ask for? The descriptions of events and the characters, as well as the interactions the characters have with each other makes you feel as if you're there along side them. So, if you're looking for a interesting and sexy historical romance, then look no farther ... you've found it. This is a good book. And the ending is great!

"Awaken, My Love" - Lite,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Changeling Bride (Paperback)
I really, really liked this book - it's a keeper for me. I thought Elle was a wonderfully realistic character, and who wouldn't fall in love with Henry? There were two scenes where I just laughed out loud, and could barely stop - I always like that in a book!I'm surprised, though, that no one has mentioned the plot similarities to Robin Schone's time travel novel "Awaken, My Love". This book has a lighter spirit, and doesn't have the explicit love scenes (although they're plenty hot!), but touches on several of the same issues. Maybe it's just a case of certain events that *must* be mentioned in a time travel? Regardless, this was a very enjoyable read.

Wilhelmina March (Elle) wants some excitement in her life and BOY! does she get it. A magic coupon leads to a wish for a husband, except that this husband, Henry Trevelyan, is way back in 1790. But no matter, because Elle is magically switched with Henry's odious fiancee, Eleanor, and the marriage takes place. There is that rarity of rarities, real communication between hero and heroine, it deals with ALL sorts of questions a modern woman would have if she woke up in another time, and all in all, this is a very enjoyable book.

A delightful read!,

This story of a modern woman from the Northwest struggling to make sense of life and love in Georgian England is witty and entertaining from start to finish. The heroine's predicament (thanks to some misguided but well-intentioned fairies) results in a temporal culture clash with very amusing results. The author thoroughly explores many of the challenges a modern woman would face when placed in such a situation. One of the great strengths of the book is the heroine Elle, who must somehow try to fit her independent, modern worldview into the realities of a more tradition-bound society while staying faithful to her true self. I found her a wonderful character that I could easily relate to. While Ms. Cach plays lightly with some of the "historical romance" conventions, the romance that develops between the two main characters is both genuine and passionate.
