Just a great book,

I loved this book.It is a great read. I really like how faith is a very strong person and is not scared of the irish devil. The only part i didn't like was that her father treated her so wrong.

This book is great and definitely a keeper. Donna FLetcher gives the reader of stubborn pride but even stronger love. I enjoyed all the characters and she goes in depth making the reader a part of their family. Fletcher gives a tale of a women who will not be broken down and a warrior whose might makes everyone quiver including the heroine, but not in fear. As they fight against the odds their love strengthens. The secondary characters are wonderful and I cannot wait for her next book.

Not only is this book light on history. There is no history in it. I think it might most charitably be described as a fantasy in which the characters wear medieval costume and their social structure is loosely based on that of medieval Europe. This author appears to lack a basic grasp of the history of the period and of historical novel writing in general. Sadly, it appears that not only has she failed to do her homework, but she actually seems to hold a measure of contempt for the time period she's writing about. I can't help wondering why she bothered. Why not just write a contemporary? From a historical perspective, this book's woes begin on page one. Even the heroine's name - Faith - is so anachronistic it's jolting. (Naming girls after virtues is a Puritan custom that began approximately 400 years after the story takes place.) The pages that follow contain far too many historical weaknesses to name. But it's not just history. Anachronisms aside, this novel is just poorly written. Although she has other books in print, Ms. Fletcher is an amateur. Her work is rife with grammatical errors, dangling modifiers, misspellings and comma splices. Many words are simply misused (i.e., "limpid" instead of "limp," "desirous" instead of "desirable"). The hero is irritating and cartoonish; the secondary characters are stereotypical. The heroine can't decide whether she wants to be a sad caricature of everyone's conception of a medieval lady or an independent, twentieth-century woman. The plot is flimsy and devoid of any plausible conflict. Yes, these things do matter. Yes, they do disrupt the story. When a reader buys a book, I don't think it's too much to ask for the author to hold up her end of the bargain by researching her period and by brushing up on the basics of English grammar, spelling and sentence structure. This is no more than having respect for the reading public and holding to the principle that any job worth doing is worth doing well.

Charming romance,

The Irish Devil is your typical medieval romance. Wealthy, handsome, fearsome lord of the castle marries the outcast, scarred stepchild. There's a little mystery and plenty of sex.I found this story very romantic.

Alright - Enough! Stop nitpicking and take the story for what it is F I C T I O N, fantasy, escape. I read these type of books for those reasons. There's enough reality in this world. I enjoyed the book. I have to agree with one of the reviewers, this book does have it all. Read it. PS By the way, this was my first Donna Fletcher and I now have a few more in my shopping basket.

Wonderful read,

Donna Fletcher's first novel in the Irish Eyes series is captivating. The Irish Devil is the first title of this series. This one takes place in the Middle Ages. It's full of Celtic charm and passion. To me, it started out dark, but the closer the characters got to emotional freedom, the lighter and stronger the story became. I will give you fair warning that the passion is teasing and bold. The story starts out with a servant telling the tale of the Irish Devil. He's a cold-hearted man who fights to the death on the battlefield. On this night, the tale is more frightening because The Irish Devil himself is about to appear at their doorstep to claim a bride from the callous family they work for. He will choose between the natural daughters of the Lord and Lady or the stepdaughter who has been disowned because of tragedy long ago. Once a choice has been made, the ride to a new life begins. Here in lies the heart of the story as these two learn to love and trust each other. This is definitely a grand romance series to look out for. The next two installments of the series are TO MARRY AN IRISH ROGUE and DAUGHTER OF IRELAND

I really loved this book. Faith was an awesome female character. She was strong and stood firm throughout the whole story. Despite its typing and grammar errors, this book kicked some major bum. I highly reccomend it to anyone who believes in fairy tales and doesn't get critical when they are reading. It was very well-writen. Good bye!

These reviews kill me. Everyone complaining about the grammar mistakes must all be looking for mistakes. Doesn't your minds skip over the errors automatically? Read to read and forget the errors. The plot was excellent and I caught the mistakes and I didn't care. I just wanted to know the story. The book reminds me of the true Irish, their spirit and stubborn ways. Read the book and enjoy. If Donna Fletcher writes another book, I will read it as well.

This book is a quandry! There are lots of distracting editorial problems with grammer. The plot is sometimes weak and I didn't buy that the main conflict between Eric and Faith would keep them apart for 200+ pages. All that said, this book still drove me to turn the pages. The sexual tension is hot! The two characters are likeable, as are the secondary characters. So, even though it drove me mad, I still liked it! Go figure!

I can't believe the 5 stars are real,

Come on. You've got to be kidding. This lady couldn't pass freshman English, let alone get published (and I would really, really like to know how that happened). The guy in this book is a self-centered dork, with no redeeming qualities. The lady is ok, except for her judgment in men. The plot is stupid, the writing is less than sophomoric--how, please could this get a 5 star rating unless her friends are writing in? No kidding, this book is so bad, it's embarrassing! Please don't encourage her. She needs to keep her day job.
