5.0 out of 5 stars You must suffer and serve before you can rule

3.0 out of 5 stars an intro to fantastical bdsm....
so, ok, a lot of her descriptions are trite obfuscations of `setting' and character development is weak, but who cares.

getting to the meat of the story lines, there are some very applicable erotic arousing scenes of one-on-one sadism/masochism and sexual `torture'. it was really an eye opener for me about the relationship between master/slave, that is obviously an...

4.0 out of 5 stars The same but a bit different., Aug 9 2010

This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Hardcover)
Just finished this one. It was pretty good except that it was a lot of the same thing, spanks, whips, chained or tied up.... It was different from the first in that the story was viewed from both Beauty and Tristans (a male character introduced at the end of the first book) There were some new erotic scenes like Beauty and her Mistress that was pretty hot. Even though I can not relate to ONE character in these books it is one of the reasons I like it so much. The end of this book was a bit shocking and came out of no where. I can't wait to read the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Steamier, July 12 2004

This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
This is the continuation of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, where Beauty is learning more of the arts of erotica in various form.

Here, Beauty has managed to defy the Prince and as punishment, she is set off along with the other Prince and Princess off to the Village, where they are sold to any commoner who could afford them doing the Queen's bidding. In this book, Beauty is more focus on Prince Tristan, and always in hoping to be with him. But here is the ironic part of it all, this this book, it is far more focus on Prince Tristan's thoughts and feelings rather than beauty herself.

This book btw, is far more steamier than the last and less plots rather and yes. Yummy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Become a slave and you will love it, Jun 24 2004
By
This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
In the village Beauty and some others are auctioned to the civilians who transform them into working slaves : they have to work, the boys are turned into horses or poneys, and their masters and mistresses are degrading them and punishing them into a new stage of submission. They develop their dependence on this enslavement to the point of getting in love with the punishment and the punishing masters or mistresses. At this moment they cannot even imagine themselves leaving or escaping from that degrading position because their psyche has been made dependent on it, because their intellect has been centered on it. Their whole vision of the world and of themselves in the world holds only because of this enslavement that becomes the cornerstone of it, the apex of any intelligent or sensual reaction and action. They need the punishment to remain structured. Without the punishment they collapse into sheer non-existence, a scattered jigsaw puzzle whose pieces cannot be set back into any kind of a pattern. But this punishment is brutally interrupted by some sultanic pirates who take away these slaves to become the toys of their master, the Sultan. The Queen negociates that operation by lending these slaves of hers for a hefty amount of money and with the objective of them being given back in a couple of years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best of the three, Jun 21 2004
This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
This is the second book in the trilogy. Its main focus is the white male slave Tristan, making it my favorite of the three. It's got a really hot scene with Tristan and his master, so if you like guy/guy stuff, like me, you'll definitely want to get this.

5.0 out of 5 stars You must suffer and serve before you can rule, Mar 1 2004
This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
You must suffer and serve before you can rule, and suffer she does. For her insubordination, Beauty is sent to be sold a slave in a village. Rice continues her erotic description of BDSM torments from The Capture of Sleeping Beauty. By now she has fallen in love with the handsome Prince Tristan. His torments are also followed in this second book. Erotic slaves do menial labor, cleaning and scrubbing, act as horses pulling carts, and or course are whipped and sexually tortured regularly for the erotic pleasure of the master. It's a classic of erotic BDSM fiction. You might as well buy all three to start with.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beauty's Punishment, Dec 9 2003

This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
Not as good as the first in this series but it will keep your interest. Would recommend reading The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty first since it is the first book in the series.

This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
This is the second book in the Beauty series and it continues in the same fashion as the first. Lots of sex, consentual and not, in every manner you could conceivable dream up. It wets the appetite for the next book. I found it interesting and, as always, tantalizing. Anne Rice has done it again... as if there was ever any doubt!

4.0 out of 5 stars Shocking Sequel, July 31 2003
By
This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
I bought the three all at one time when told that these were some kind of "new" work by Anne Rice writing under an (in)famous pseudonym. New? Well, that is an understatement.

The first one had poor Beauty in the castle with her prince. Now she has been a bad girl (Rice's favorite kind, apparently) and joins her fellow slaves in a town of the common folk for fun and games. I think everyone at some time has thought of at least a variation of this - having beautiful gals (or handsome guys) around for pleasure. Giving literary license, one can almost find this stuff in the realm of possibility at some point way in the past. Again, we have a suffering of the soul and again all those mixed feelings in which Rice excels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel!, Mar 29 2003
This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
Beauty's Punishment is the continuation of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Anne Rice's erotic retelling of the popular fairy tale. In the second installment, Beauty is punished for having rebelled against the Prince. She, along with Prince Tristan, an insubordinate slave and object of Beauty's desire, is auctioned, captivated and subjected to the most erotic, tantalizing and cruel games of domination and submission. Again, Anne Rice does an excellent job in illustrating the psychological implications of the human desire. She also does a splendid job in taking the course of the story to unexpected turns...

There are various differences between The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty and its sequel. In Beauty's Punishment, the language is less fanciful and more explicit. Also, Prince Tristan is the focal character in this book -- thus, making Beauty seem as though she were a secondary character at times. And I noticed that the erotic scenes are far steamier this time. The changes are brilliant, for it makes the story meatier -- so to speak.

I am duly impressed with Ms. Rice's ecstatic imagination and excellent prose. This is erotica at its literary best! I can't wait to know what happens to Beauty and Tristan in the conclusion of this (so far) memorable trilogy!

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting twist on a fairy tale fantasy, Jan 18 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Beauty's Punishment (Paperback)
Like the other two books of the series Beauty's Punishment puts an very erotic spin on the old fairy tale. This series was my first time reading litterature on this particular area of sexual fantasy but it was so enthralling that I couldn't put the books down once I was drawn into the world of Beauty. If you have an open mind about various aspects of sexuality this book is one not to be missed.
