3.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (
Nowhere in the description of this book was it mentioned, or implied, that this book was fiction. I felt duped when I discovered it was from the imagination of an author choosing to write for Elizabeth. From now on I guess I will have to read reviews and excerpts before ordering anything. This will make it much more tedious and time-consuming. How else to avoid a...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Historical Fiction., July 18 2005
This review is from: Royal Diaries: Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (Hardcover)
I rate this 4 stars because the story sometimes lost my interest, but in the end it was very succsessful. I really enjoyed the platonic relationship that Elizabeth and Robin had, also this is a important part of history and I'm sure that the book isn't completely based on fiction. The book also had facts and immangination, which made it seem more real and exciting.

I recommend this book for everybody of all ages that enjoys historical events and facts and just history itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth I, Red rose of the House of Tudor, Jun 16 2005

This review is from: Royal Diaries: Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (Hardcover)
This was a good book. In a lot of the other books I read about Elizabeth she is completely miserable. But now I know that that is not true. She didn't have a fairy tale life, but Elizabeth is still really interesting. Kathryn Lasky did a really good job of making this book seem completely real. The only thing is that Elizabeth doesn't travel anywhere or anything but I still really like the book. It is the best one I have read so far about Elizabeth. I would HIGHLY recommend it.

The book reads wonderfully well - if you suppose that in actuality it is being written by Elizabeth. It's impossible, at this point, to offer a critique. I might have an entirely different opinion were I to know its true source.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Royal Diaries Reader, Nov 15 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Royal Diaries: Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (Hardcover)
I thought that this book was amazingly put together and it was very well written. I like Elizabeth's personality. I dislike the deaths and beheading that is mentioned althought that was her life. I think that every child or adult which is interested in this book or subject should read it because it really shows Kathryn Lasky's hard work. She has also written Marie Antoinette which I'm going to read soon. It is very good apperently.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Younger Days of Elizabeth I, Nov 5 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Royal Diaries: Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (Hardcover)
Princess Elizabeth of England, daughter of Henry VIII and his second wife Anne Boleyn, feels isolated and lonely whenever exiled from court by her father. But every glance toward her by her father thrills her, each pinch excites her. All she wants is her father's love. Court rumors swirl around her, and lots of suspense hangs on to her, one of which I could not tell (read the book if you want to know). I love this book, and I would have to say it's the very best! I now completely idolize Elizabeth I! After I read the book, I had a strong reaction to it, one of which is admiration. I read it again, and again!
Totally five stars, but it deserves more!

I read all of the Royal Diaries, and everything is very good!

4.0 out of 5 stars an ok read, July 17 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Royal Diaries: Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (Hardcover)
This was a good book. It didn't blow me over but it was good enough. The thing that annoyed me about this book was that she complains that she is a "forgotten princess", or invisable, or none notices her! STOP COMPLAINING! it was ok but not my favorite.

Elizabeth was pretty good. I really did expect more from the diary of such a famous person. All in all i guess it was ok but it didn't leave me wanting for more like some of the other fabulous Royal Diaries. I reccomend Cleopatra, Nzingha, Jahanara, Eleanor, Isabel, Sondok, and Anastasia.

5.0 out of 5 stars not true, Jun 20 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Royal Diaries: Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (Hardcover)
I loved this book, but what one person said was not true. Mary was a cruel-hearted person. I did not like her at all. It was too true, this book means true faith. I do not agree with that person at all! They might have lied about a few things in the book, but they told the truth about mary. Mary was smart, but she was mean. Elizabeth made a difference in England. Unlike most queens, she stopped what had happened, what "Mary" had done.

This book, is one of my fave books. I am now reading Kristina, can anyone tell me how that book is? Anyway, I think this book is mostly true, and Elizabeth's kid life, was not all heaven, with her mother dying, when she was only a kid! Uh-uh. I don't think so. But if you read this book, you will fall in love with it, just like I did! But, Mary was nice to some people. But I'm just sayin', she burnt people on the steaks just for not being Catholic! I am Catholic, so imagine how I would take that! Elizabeth stopped that, but just because of that you sshould read the book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good book, sad book, and a treasuring book, Jun 18 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Royal Diaries: Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor, England, 1544 (Hardcover)
This is a book that got me thinking a lot. It shows the beauty in yourself. It shows not to be afraid to take chances. And Elizabeth did survive, which made a point. If you're not true to yourself, then how can you be true to all of the other people in the world? She ruled England, and was never wed to any man. She was only wed to her country Enlgand. and She was one of the best rulers of England, heck she was the best! It's just horrible for her sister, Mary, to send her to the tower for not doing anything.

Mary was a horrible woman, she'd have everyone pray every second! Elizabeth's dad was so horrible he married 8 times!
I did this book for a report for school, a book report. I though it was one of the best books I had ever read, and it's like 256 pages about that much. And it's worth it! I loved it and you will too! I give this book two thumbs up, 5 stars! You will too!
