Rock-Solid. It's In My Top Ten Non-Fiction List.,
By Marifrances (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Paperback)
It's understandable that most people would dismiss a book like this out of hand. However, considering that this book really does stand in a league of its own, it would be the reader's loss to give this a miss.I've read widely in many genres including the "ghost/spirit" genre. As a librarian, it has been my job to review non-fiction books of all varieties and judge them for quality. I also have a bit of an interest in the topic personally. So, when I say this book is most recommended, and is in fact in my Top Ten Non-Fiction List, I sincerely mean what I am saying. I know that the subject seems a bit ... cheesy. Frankly, it's been done to death (no pun intended), but it has never been done RIGHT until Mr. Brittle's book came along. Conjecture, sensationalism, cornyness, New Age claptrap -- I wouldn't blame you if you thought this book was just another lame "Magic for Dummies" type offering. HOWEVER: 1. This book was meticulously researched and documented. I was very happy to see this book available on Amazon, as it was out of print for years and the only copy I could find was on Alibris for $100. I would say, buy this book while you can. You'll thank me -- and you'll thank Gerald Brittle, Ed, and Lorraine for being forthright about this much-maligned topic.

Completely Incredible!,

This review is from: The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Paperback)
I resisted reading this book for a long time because I thought it was just a knock-off of The Exorcist, but after learning that Stephen King uses The Demonologist as a reference I figured it was time to give it a try. My God I wasn't prepared for what I'd find out. Throw away all your other ghost stories, you won't need them after this. Not only is The Demonologist a legitimate book in its own right, it's one of the most incredible things I've ever read. This isn't just some collection of ghost stories, this book reveals the exact process behind spirit activity and then backs it up with real cases that have happened today. All I can say is no wonder it's back in print, it needs to be!

Horrifying epics galore! Besides Malachi Martin's "Hostage to the Devil", this book contains the scariest real life stories that you'll ever read. Contains the accounts of a rare and truly heroic couple of their manifestations of the demonic on this earthly place. You will never look at the supernatural the same way you did, ever again! You would not want to take your chances to read this book at night. I once did so, after midnight, while lying on my bed. By the time I finished 3 chapters, I thought that my chair "shifted" some distance away in my room, and thought I heard birds chirping loudly and horses galloping outside my window! I lived in an urban area and there are no horses around my area. Moreover, it was winter, and I've never heard birds so active during winter! Having experienced supernatural forces first hand when I was a child, and have seen some things described in this book, I can personally attest to the truth of the Warrens' advice. Great book, great couple, great advice on not meddling with forces you don't know. ... Happy reading! ...

Not a ghost book!,

This review is from: The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Paperback)
I bought this book years ago when it first came out in the 80s off the bargain shelf of Walden's. I was just expecting the same old ghost stories as from other books which I had read, but this one is different and made the most lasting impression on me. For one thing, it's not really a ghost book at all like I had anticipated at the time I bought it, but a book about sly, evil and invisible UNearthly beings which wish us simple earthly beings harm. Ghosts are at least from our own earthly existence going about their own business (usually), but devils & demons (fallen angels) are vastly different? I had never had an education of such spiritual matters before, and none since. It was an eye-opening, educational read, and I started reading it the day I picked it up and finished it the next day. The Warrens must have incredible inner strength spiritually to do what they do, and I could never see myself doing this for one a minute (or less).

Not What I Expected,
By A. Vegan (Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Paperback)
I have been searching for years to get my hands on a copy of the Demonologist so when I saw that it was for sale, I quickly purchased it.I was really, really disappointed with this book. I've read a number of books by the Warrens and have always found them pretty interesting but this one was like reading a textbook. There were a few actual stories which were pretty good but for the most part, it was like an interview with Ed Warren. I'm glad that I read it, but I wish I had waited until the library had it instead of purchasing it.

Loved It,
This review is from: The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Paperback)
Very good read. Filled with creepy unbeleivable stories and lots of information on demons, devils, religion, exorcism etc. I'd love to know what Ed and Lorrain Warren have done since the release of this book.

Demons are Real, and cause illness, mental and physical,
By L. Haney (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Paperback)
I have been in the exorcism/sanctification and purification work for over 17 years now. This book will teach you many logical and extraordinary things. Do not read this book just as a "lark" or a story, for these things are real. There are many books that tell of these aspects but also create an attitude of fear as they do. This can instill false fear, since faith and trust in Love and the Lord's power turns all fear aside, and demons out on their rear! Another book that is incredible, and has several chapters on deliverance and cleansing prayers, and how to tell if it is medical or demonic, is by Tiffany Snow, The Power of Divine, A Healer's Guide. It's a book on healing, but that is what Jesus did also - deliverance right along side healing. Many of the illnesses that conventional medicine can't get rid of are actually demon infestation.

great stories, now is it real??,

This book has some great stories (some REAL scary)... but is it true? It talks about the Amityville case as true, yet after looking at some movies, books, and websites, it *appears* to be a hoax. People in the family, as well the lawyer involved came out saying it was a hoax, also there was some informative evidence. But then again, alot of people who were involved with this case died unexpectively, so that makes me think. If it was a hoax, this caused me read this book more critically. There is alot (and I mean HUGE amounts) of self-praise, it is alittle too descriptive for information coming from field notes and even voice recording notes, and they supplied NO evidence (they do say they have it, just won't show it :S). Also this book is HIGHLY religous... be that good or bad. That aspect made me think of the whole Benny Himm, "anyone who doesn't believe has a demon inside them", thing. By the way, this book does reference Benny Himm. I just hope the Warrens are true, else this will make the science in this field look even more foolish in the eyes of the public. Granted, they maybe the "ambulance chasers" of parapsychology, but none the less, if this book is TRUE, then it will make you think. If it is fake, then hey, it has some great scary ghost stories. If going to buy, remember, this is truely a one-sided, "I am right and anyone who says otherwise are wrong" kind of a book. Maybe they are right, but maybe they are just making a Blairwitch. |
