I found this to be a great succinct reference to Python(2.5), with the book being well-written and to the point. The purpose of the book is to provide an uncluttered reference to the Python programming language. It's not a book that will teach you how to program in Python (Programmng Python, or Learning Python will do that). The author divides the book into the following parts: Getting Started with Python (which is a basic overview of installing it); Core Python Language Aspects (which describes the core language itself and built-ins); the next section considers the Python Librarary and Extension Modules; Part IV deals with Network and Web Programming; and the last part, with Extending and Embedding Python. I didn't have any major criticisms of the book. The book is exactly what it claims to be, viz., a quick reference on Python.
