Easy to comprehend but there are lots of mistakes,

This review is from: Head First Pmp: A Brain-Friendly Guide to Passing the Project Management Professional Exam (Paperback)
I was hesitant and skeptical about this book but after reading few pages I was easily convinced, it would be an easy and very interesting unlike any other. Sure enough gave it a chance and I was highly focused as it is written unlike any other PMP books. However, along the way I noticed mistakes and topic inconsistency. I then compared the inputs and outputs of some of the areas such as Integration, Scope and other knowledge base and soon enough had me derailed. So I needed to go back to Rita's book and compare the information. Certainly, Rita's book is the one and only perhaps more detailed one in the market to pass PMP exam. I would recommend it as a basis to get to know the processes which is way easier than anything I've seen out there but would not recommend it for PMP exam. If you're preparing for PMP exam, add companion books such as Rita's "PMP Exam Prep" and most definitely the "PMBOK".

This book is EXTREMELY helpful; I read though it twice and referred to my other project management (PM) course study material while studying for the exam. I have 6 years of experience as a PM before taking this exam and this book supplemented my knowledge beautifully. If you have zero experience as a PM, this book would offer you a good foundation to build your knowledge of the PM role and processes. Best of luck.

My first look at this book, I figured it looked pretty silly. However, I decided to us it as part of my PMP exam prep and quickly discovered what a great tool it is. By using pictures, puzzles, etc., it really helped me learn the concepts in a unique way that most importantly, helped make them stick. The book also contains practice questions and descriptive answers that are invaluable to the study experience. I used the Guide to PMBOK, Andy Crowe's PMP book, and this Head First book. This book is a great place to start. Best of luck.

This book uses several different methods to ingrain the PMP concepts in your head, from crosswords, to fill in the blanks, to visual ways of presenting the concepts such as the repetitious use of icons. The approach makes it fun and quick to read without putting you to sleep. I passed my CAPM on the first try using this book and free sample test questions available on line.

I read the PMBOK guide months ago, and then tried reading Rita Mulcahy's book that you ALWAYS hear about when studying for PMP exam. However, the most confusing thing about that book is that she uses the process chart with terminology that's different from the PMBOK guide. Having read through PMBOK first, it was a challenge to get used to Rita's chart and it was giving me nightmares. I was stuck and didn't feel like I was making any progress, so I turned my attention to the Head First PMP book.Thankfully, it is using the same terminology as PMBOK and they explain the ideas in a way that you GET IT. I would highly recommend this book if you're new to the PMP terminology and want to get your head around things. However, I'm also using Rita's book to read exam pointers & exam questions AFTER I read the chapters in Head First. Rita's book gives many reminders on how the questions are in the real exam, which is good to keep in mind as you're studying. Based on my search Head First questions are easier than the actual exam questions, whereas the exam questions Rita's book are more realistic. I'm using both books to study for the exam. As for Amazon: I'm thoroughly impressed and very happy with Amazon's service. The book is in mint condition, of course - but I was floored that I ordered the book late Saturday night (after midnight) and it arrived Monday morning - with standard free shipping. I would recommend using Amazon over Chapters any day. Same book was 92$ in-store at Chapters and was 50$ at chapters.ca but it was same price as Amazon ($48) if are Chapters irewards member. Why would you pay to get discounts? Amazon prices are better and so is the service. Awesome!!

Great studying resource,
This review is from: Head First Pmp: A Brain-Friendly Guide to Passing the Project Management Professional Exam (Paperback)
While this book seems kid like and amateurish at first it actually is a valuable study guide with many helpful hints and unique ways of learning the material. Overall the exercises in the book are good but do get a bit tedious as you get more into studying. Doing the majority of the activities despite how silly some seem really help you (noticeable when you answer questions in other study guides). The only point is that the exam questions offered in this book could be harder to be more like the actual exam. Its a book to review and in some cases learn areas of project management you haven't come across before.Book arrived timely and in brand new condition. Definitely a keeper for the shelves.

This is good book to make your concept clear about PMP exam. PMBOK is not good for making your concepts clear about what is written on it. So this book really help me alot with its graphical approach to present concepts with simple day to days examples with pictures to make you remember much better then PMBOK. I recommend this book to someone who really wanted to know about what really PMBOK ask us to know.Head First Pmp: A Brain-Friendly Guide to Passing the Project Management Professional ExamThis book is fun while learning
