Great for Boys!!!,
By Tami Barrier (Lexington, KY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Escape (Island, Book 3) (Paperback)
If your looking for books that will hook boys into reading, then this is the one! As a teacher I know that getting boys interested in novels has become increasingly difficult. Boys are great with informational books or comics, but it is harder to catch their interest in chapter books. This book is the third book in a series of the "Island" books. It is highly interesting for its audience. It is about 6 chidlren (4 boys, 2 girls) that get sent on a boat as a punishment and a storm shipwrecks them on an island. On this island the children learn to work together and take care of one another (developing life skills). They discover some smugglers and even "Junior" which is a left over atomic bomb from World War II. It is a wonderful series for boys that will appeal to their need for adventure and everyone of all ages. It is a different story line and has many real challenges that you see these characters go through that may help you in your everyday life. I suggest this book for any child around third grade and up.

Island,

This review is from: Escape (Island, Book 3) (Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading these books mostly bcuz the author makes it seem so real by dating back to WW2.The books are about 6 kids, Luke, Charla, Ian, Will, Lyssa, and J.J. that get sent on CNC for a punishment and the boat they are on (the phoniex) sinks and they lose the adults. after floating in the ocean on a cabin roof for about a week. They arrive on a deserted island or so they thought, until a group or smugglers appear in their airplanes trading goods like animal tusks and teeth. The castaways live off the fruit and fish from what the island supplies them with. I'm not gonna tell you any more so if you wanna know more then read the books. for anyone who likes reading these are great books even if they are for ages 9-12 so what I'm 13 and I loved them so try reading them!

from a 56 year old retired teacher Gordon Korman fan,

I loved sharing Gordon Korman's books with my fifth grade class. In spite of the fact the early books were following a successful formula, they were successful. It "cracked up" the class including me. Even retired I keep many of his books. My classes and I particularly enjoyed I want to Go Home! and Who Is Bugs Potter? My personal favorite is No Coins Please! I was not sure what I would get into with this adventure trilogy. It was engrossing. I felt compelled to get and read the third book. However, I felt a sense of disappointment. Thinking it might be due to my personal expectations I loaned them to a great nephew to who I had previously loaned Korman books. He loved all the others, and he loved these also. I missed the creative twists and turns of his conniving little schemers, but the adventure is unmistakeably absorbing.

Gordon Korman's "Island" series,

What a page turner that keeps you guessing what is going to happen!!! Korman's trilogy has found a place in my classroom reading series. I've bought a classroom set of the whole entire "Island" series. I read each book in one day. It was nerve-racking waiting for the final book to come out, but I was NOT DISAPPOINTED.Who would have known that the ending would turn out as it did? The least likely islander came through and saved the day...by the skin of their teeth. I was gripped in the first book by the characters, the second by the separation of the kids and all of their problems. The third book kept me "on the edge of me seat." This has got to be turned into a big theatrical movie...I'll be the first in line to buy my tickets.

The Best,

Wow if you want to read a good book you should order this book right now. Talk about being at the edge of your seat. When you read it it is like you are transformed into that book and you don't care what is happening around you. I suggest you don't read it if you dont have a lot of time because when you start reading it you will not want to give it up when you have to go. So get this book but don't read it unless you have read the first two which are as a good as this one.

Book 3 - Escape,
By A Customer
This review is from: Escape (Island, Book 3) (Paperback)
Things were bad enough when Luke, Lyssa, Will, J.J., Ian, and Charla were stuck alone on the island. But now they have company-real bad company. Plus, Will is seriously injured and needs help immediatly. Before, escape was something the kids could only hope for. Now it's a matter of life and death. - I recently bought all 3 of the "Island" books and could not put them down. (Read all 3 in 2 day) I highly suggest them to all readers!

Six shipwrecked kids have to find their way home...,
This review is from: Escape (Island, Book 3) (Paperback)
Luke, JJ, Ian, Will, Charla, and Lyssa have survived against all odds after being shipwrecked by a dangerous storm. But they're not alone -- deadly enemies lurk in the shadows, and the kids have even run into a terrifying revelation hidden on the island. And Will is dying. There's a slight chance of saving him, but it will be likely to kill him as well. There's only one plan to escape the island -- and it's the biggest risk the kids have to face. They don't know if they can go along with the dangerous plan, or if Will can be saved. And they've never been more terrified before. Island #3: Escape is the exciting conclusion to Gordon Korman's adventurous trilogy, and the best of the three in my opinion. The writing and plot were better than the first two books by far; this trilogy is great for adventure and humor for all Gordon Korman's readers alike.

The thrilling conclusion to the Island trilogy.,

This review is from: Escape (Island, Book 3) (Paperback)
After a horrifying shipwreck, six kids - Will, his sister Lyssa, Luke, J.J., Ian, and Charla were lucky to find themselves alive. But now they're stranded on a desert island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and they're not alone. Because the island that fate has brought them to is not only the location of the headquarters of a group of smugglers, but also of a long deserted military base housing a nuclear weapon left over from World War II. Will has been shot, and time is running out even for the others. Sooner or later the smugglers will find them, and even if they don't, Will can't last much longer without medical help. The kids come up with a risky plan, but if it doesn't work, none of them will ever see civilization, or their families, again. The thrilling Island trilogy comes to a close with this exciting page-turner. I am sorry to see the series end, and hope that Gordon Korman writes more survival stories in the future.
