5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Criminal opponents that Rhymes has faced.
This book kept me engaged from front to back. Solid plot and the criminal opponents are well developed. Nice twist at the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
This is the first Deaver novel that I have read and I found it enjoyable. There were several suspenseful parts of this book and also some boring. Some areas dragged out longer then necessary so you lost the major page turner yearning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent double-whammy from Deaver, May 17 1998
The Coffin Dancer is yet another of Deaver's books that first leads you one way and then kicks you in the teeth when it doesn't happen the way it should. Yet another example of Deaver's excellent way of luring you in and then laughing when you get the ending wrong. The Coffin Dancer gives us another chance to see the work of ex forensic criminalist, Lincoln Rhyme at work, and after the superb "Bone Collector", this book admirably continues the story. Only this time the criminal is personally known to Rhyme and he will do anything to outsmart and catch him. An excellent thriller and mystery. This confirms in my eyes why the Times called Deaver "The best psychological thriller writer around."

4.0 out of 5 stars Good But Not Up To Par, May 15 1998

After looking forward to the next book featuring Lincoln Rhyme, I found it to be enjoyable but a bit of a letdown (after Tbe Bone Collector and A Maiden's Grave). The story dragged in a few areas, included a bit too much forensic details and some of the characters were not very interesting. All in all, if you can escape from making comparisons you probably will find it to be a worthwhile read.
