Good Refresher Book...but Notes from a Friend good basic,
By A Customer
This review is from: Giant Steps: Small Changes to Make a Big Difference (Audio CD)
Two points (one covers a review...the other covers the guy with a grudge towards Tony Robbins)The book is good for reminding you and keeping you on track if you are one to read stuff but not do it unless you have a check list... have the book in a place you get to every day (chunk it...like with your vitamins or coffee) I found Notes From a Friend better and shorter...it gives you the Top 10 Tools of Robbins Philosophy...each about 5 pages long... and a 10 day mental challenge... easier than digesting the longer books (since 90% of the people don't get past chapter 3 of most self help books) As for the guy with the grudge (he says he isn't bashing...but he has put a review on each and every Tony Robbins book on Amazon stating why Tony is a scammer) he speaks of doing all the Tony Robbins stuff for 8 years... and yet his complaints and reviews show he read it but doesn't appear to have practiced it... plus he talks of coming from love and acceptance... well his reviews don't seem to come across that way...so he may not think he is bashing...but he is. Even Tony says certain things work for certain people...he speaks of what worked for him and what he managed. The self help industry is flush with people looking for the 'magical answer to fix their lives' I myself can say I have not succeeded in many areas due to not taking the time to work with what was in front of me and jumping all around. I have currently stopped that and am sticking with what is in front of me... giving it a good 6 months of work to see if it is for me...then and only then will I move onto something else. Take what works and leave the rest.

A great system to confuse yourself!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Giant Steps: Author Of Awaken The Giant And Unlimited Power (Paperback)
did all the Tony Robbins stuff for years. The tapes, books-all of it. I was one of the unfortunate ones that got hooked. Instead of just bashing Mr. Robbins, I will write a clear, well detailed review of SOME of the huge flaws in his little money making system so that those major fans who will of course disagree with me, will at least read this and at some point will hopefully "see the light". Unfortunately, in this short review I can't explain things in great detail. Some of you will get what I'm saying though. Please read this carefully and think about what I am saying-scientifically--Please.-Let's start with the mindset of these books. He promotes a super achiever kind of hyper-doer attitude. I would instead opt for being at peace with myself--HERE & NOW. Learning to BE. Not just be a doer. Does that mean being complacent? NO! It means you can set goals but it has nothing to do with your self-acceptance and daily joy. -He uses this Pain/Pleasure principal to motivate you. That is a highly flawed system. It is based on causing stress on yourself and motivating you through discomfort. Has anyone stopped to think that one can achieve goals through peace and discipline. It's not motivation through pain/pleasure we need, it's learning to deal with our AVERSION to discomfort that holds many of us back. Facing that with persevearance and wisdom is the only way to deal with that-not gimmicky NAC. -It is wrong to create MUSTS as he teaches. That causes people to be stressed out and to be attatched and anxious to things. You cannot DEMAND change of yourself. This again is based on the erroneous idea that we're so highly flawed we need to whip ourselves to grow. Not true. Better to learn Positive motivation skills based on learning to enjoy the Process not just the outcome. -Tony goes in so many different directions in his book you don't know when to use what -Why does he say that it's important to know that all feelings are good, they are Action Signals-yet he tells you to "break thru" depression, worry and other states. If we are going to accept our feelings how can we also go against them by trying to change them with NAC and physiology etc(that is not acceptance at all that is manipulation and many of you may have figured out by now that you can't battle with your feelings-ACCEPTANCE of them nonjudgmentally brings transformation) Why, if we are to accept feelings do we need Transformational Vocabulary?? If we supposedly accept them as Action Signals, why tell myelf I'm peeved instead of angry? and will that really work? NO WAY. Of course you'll remain angry. C'MON. That is just silly. -So much of it is really just a pump up. I admit that that might have it's place to a certain degree. Yes, I'm sure the pump up got some to achieve. That's a good thing, but this Robbins "technology" as a reliable, well developed system? Not quite. -His system for creating Values is so ridiculously superficial. Just becaue you write down these supposed values and rules, that doesn't mean they will reflect you TRUE feelings. WE ARE NOT THAT SIMPLISTIC! -Tony Robbins, having "mastered" relationships divorced his wife Becky a few years ago. Again, we are not that simplistic as his system tries to profess. My intention is to try to help you seekers out there, not to bash Mr Robbins. People would be better off making more of a "spiritual" discovery that brings them UNCONDITIONAL SELF ACCEPTANCE and Inner Peace. Something that is not based on achievment. You don't need to create this "achieve to win" attitude. Without transforming from the inside out, it's all a band aid solution and YES, you can be HIGHLY productive and just BE without getting into this crazed achiever mindset. Since when is that the purpose of life? Folks, you are all able to achieve great things by getting centered and tuning in to yourself. Trust yourself. Find that wellspring within! You don't need all this pumped up, gimmicky stuff. A much better book would be The Power of Now. A book about real transformation. Finding inner grace in life moment to moment and yes achieving, but with inner satisfaction all along the way, whatever the outcome!

I recently purchased Awaken the Giant Within on CD. Now I am listening to Giant Steps on CD. It seems to say the same thing. I liked Awaken the Giant Within, though seems the CD is probably shorter than the actual book, but not sure. I was trying to get something from Robbins that would NOT say the same thing. I guess if you like to hear him talk, I recommend this.

Good, but not as good as other "works" of Robbins,
This review is from: Giant Steps: Author Of Awaken The Giant And Unlimited Power (Paperback)
First, I must admit that I am a fan of Tony. I like his books and tapes much. They are very helpful during my trouble times and I am ready to recommend them, particulary the "Get the Edge" and "Personal Power" tapes, to anyone who wants to get motivated and take action. I like Tony' style of presenting things in a logical, rational and friendly manner, elaborating points clearly with great life examples that you can remember and apply them in your life. I particularly like his tapes because he is a great speaker who really can move your heart with his passionate tone and manner (you cant see it but you can feel him moving his arms, for sure). Back to this book. As it is written in a 365 day diary format with a short passage devoting to independent topics, the bondage between individual passages becomes a little bit weak. I agree with a reviewer that this can be a light and interesting reading on journeys. However, accustomed to taking Tony's works as living guides/tool books, I prefer to rate it a three star relatively to the normal five star of most of other Tony's great works.

Inspiring for Some - A Bit Much for Others,
This review is from: Giant Steps: Author Of Awaken The Giant And Unlimited Power (Paperback)
'Giant Steps' is a small book full of one-a-day "Tony-isms" culled from a previous book. There's bound to be something for just about everyone, but not everyone will appreciate such a large dose. Grouped loosely into 12 sections, most take the form of questions, action steps or inspiring passages. It makes a nice gift for someone looking to make some positive changes in their life and a;so provides a nice overview of the author's earlier stuff. Also recommended, 'Notes From a Friend".

Easy style, good ideas!,
This review is from: Giant Steps: Small Changes to Make a Big Difference (Audio Cassette)
I always listen to Anthony Robbins tapes in the car. What I like about them is that his style is so easy to listen to. He is both engaging and informative. I think Giant Steps is a great addition to any self development programme you might be on or contempleting at the moment. There a lot of good tapes and books out there by various self-help authors, but what makes Robbins unique is that he not only tells you what to do, he tells you HOW to do it, and how to integrate it into your life. In Giant Steps, the bit I like the most is about self-talk and how it can a change in your self talk can lead to a change in your perceptions which can ultimately have the power to change a part of your interaction with people and your life. He tells you what to do then says do it for 10 days and see what heppens.

There are 365 great reasons to buy this book,

This book isn't meant to be read in a day. If you did you could finish it in less than an hour and you would gain very little from doing so. This book gives you an idea to focus on each day so that you can focus on your goals for 365 days. Because of my busy life, I do not always get a chance to read the boo each day. Here is a tip for those of you who decide to get the book. Each time I read one of the lessons, I write down the date on the page. This helps me determine if I have been slacking. Like Anthony Robbins says, it is not what you do in any particular day but what you do consistently that allows for progression.

You want to change your life?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Giant Steps: Author Of Awaken The Giant And Unlimited Power (Paperback)
If you really feel like there's something missing in your life, if you are really miserable to that point, this book is for you. But the problem is that it's not going to help you. It will make you feel great for about 10-20 minutes after you've read a whole chapter and you will feel like you have really understood something great, but I promise you that it will not last. Try it! Go ahead! I'm just trying to save you 2, 3, 4, maybe 10 years of reading his books, going to his seminars and listenning to his tapes and not changing your life in any way. I won't even mention all the money you will lose on all that stuff. If you really want to change your life, read some philosophy, get into sports, religion, or whatever you're into, but PLEASE don't increase the misery in your life by reading the "teachings" of that poor giant: Tony Robbins!

365 pages of strategies,
By A Customer
This review is from: Giant Steps: Author Of Awaken The Giant And Unlimited Power (Paperback)
This book contains the strategies from Tony's thick book 'Awaken The Giant Within'. This is supposed to be read one page a day. Little steps are GIANT STEPS if they make you change in a big way. Tony realizes that success is not an overnight thing. It requires daily consistant input and effort. We don't go to the gym once and say 'yay now I'm fit'. A great book to put beside your study so you can apply his methods and assignments step by step daily.
