5.0 out of 5 stars Love it...
This was a fun book to do with the Grandkids. It's about having fun and spendingtime together. Emeril made this cook book easy and simple and yet the photos were fun as well. I would love to see more books on the market like this. It's about family time and not just eating... 5 Stars Emeril HAPPY HAPPY Customer

2.0 out of 5 stars Let's get real
What's with all the five star reviews? Wow. I'm going with two stars because this book is made for kids and does a good job at attracting kids with all its funny pictures. But come on. These are total common sense recipes. If you are getting it for the pictures and for kids to laugh, fine. But for cooking (even for kids), no way. And it is a cookbook rather than just...

I've watched Emeril on TV for years. I watch closely as his recipes come out flawless. I've always wondered - is it the cook or the recipe.

His talent aside - this book is great. The recipies are TV like. Enjoy.

My niece brought this book over on her school break & we made 9 or 10 recipes & thought they were great. The cinnamon rolls, mac & cheese, apple muffins & the salad dressings to name a few. My niece ( almost 13) did most of the cooking herself with very little guidance from me. Great cookbook for kids & adults!!

These are total common sense recipes. If you are getting it for the pictures and for kids to laugh, fine. But for cooking (even for kids), no way. And it is a cookbook rather than just another kids' picture book, right? Seriously, the recipe for "Eat a Pita Pizza" is "buy a package of pitas, jarred spaghetti sauce and shredded cheese. Put pitas on tray, put sauce on pitas, put cheese on pitas, put tray in oven at 350% and cook until cheese bubbles". Now, do you really want to spend hard earned money on that? The recipes are really very insulting. Bam!

I love this kids' cookbook! I don't own it yet, but I checked it out from the library. It begins with a great intro to cooking and actually has a lot of meal recipes rather than mostly snacks & desserts. Emeril doesn't make use of a lot of canned food or instant convenience junk...This is Real Food! My kids (10, 7, & 6) had a lot of fun making the spaghetti & meatball recipe, and it made alot. (Which is good as there are 7 in our family.) This is the best kids cookbook I've seen.

This is a great cookbook for my daughter to use as a beginner "chef." Everything is from scratch, which is a refreshing change from the usual kid friendly cuisine. She and her friend are now using this book for Thursday night cooking classes--loved the brownies especially.

5.0 out of 5 stars There's A Chef Who's The Best!, Oct 13 2003

This review is from: Emeril's There's A Chef In My Soup!: Recipes for the Kid in Everyone (Hardcover)
With his zippy conversational style somehow jumping over onto the written page, this cookbook is a lively read. Not only that, the recipes are traditionally kid-pleasing, with that famous Emeril "bam"! Even my *teenagers* got a "kick-it-up" out of this book. I also appreciate the safety tips sprinkled liberally throughout the book. He's a winner, on the small screen and in print, in his kitchen and in ours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent in every way, Aug 26 2003

I bought this book for my Food TV inspired 5 year old daughter. She (and her 3 year old sister and her friends) love it!

The book in beautifully illustrated, recipes with clever names are easy to follow and delicious.

Mom especially likes the expert advice on the basics from Emeril. He only has to say it once, and my daughter now reminds ME that it's import to wash hands and tie back long loose hair before cooking!

Highly recommended, excellent for a gift!

4.0 out of 5 stars COOKIN' WITH SMALL FRY BUT EMERIL'S EGO NEEDS TO SIMMER DOWN, Feb 9 2003

This review is from: Emeril's There's A Chef In My Soup!: Recipes for the Kid in Everyone (Hardcover)
Everyone's favorite high-octave chef is now cookin' with the small fry. This delightfully illustrated and deliciously colorful volume offers recipes that kids will enjoy making and
eating. And maybe even sharing. Sometimes Emeril goes a bit too heavy on recipe names --- "Tinfoil Corn Rules," "Baby Bam Burgers," "Apple-of-My-Eye Crisp" pop into mind --- but this tome is clearly a recipe for success. The recipes have been tested by the chef and his kiddy crew; they're sectioned together by category such as "It-Isn't-Rocket-Science Salads" and "If You Finish You Can Have ... Dessert!" There are chapters introducing kids (and adults) to the delights (and possible dangers) of working in the kitchen; easy to grasp icons are used throughout the book --- an electric plug indicates
an appliance will be used; an oven mitt indicates things are gonna get real hot. We did gag a few times, however, at the heaping servings of Emeril ego: There is a list of his eateries,
as well as website plugs for his cookware, spice blends, TV show and publisher. Those seconds we can live without.
