This review is from: Album of Horses (School & Library Binding)
Excellent book by Marguerite Henry and the work of illustrator, Wesley Dennis is still wonderful and fresh after all these years. I loved this book when I was a child, I love this book now. I am happy to be able to share it with my grandchildren.

Very good book, I own it. Excellent information at hand at any time. Origins, colors, uses and more of each breed. Just not enough color and I think it is a bit too long written for younger riders and horse lovers alike. Otherwise it would have gotten five stars for older enthusiasts but four is quite well overall.

Marguerite Henry makes learning about horses a joy in this book. The illustrations by Wesley Dennis are just wonderful. Having been a horse crazy girl long ago, I can say that this would be a hit for any little girl who loves horses. This is a book that both adults and children can enjoy together.

I remember coming across this book in my school library when I was about 10 or 11 and being enchanted with Wesley Dennis' beautiful paintings, as well as the little stories Mrs. Henry told of each breed. Some are condensations of her other books, like Misty of Chincoteague and King of the Wind. Very informative, as they don't simply tell you dry facts but bring each breed to life in the context of a particular time and place. Definitely recommend it & any of Mrs. Henry's books to horse-crazy kids or adults!

This book is very informative. The book is in sections by breed. It includes stories of great horses, their characteristics, and a good deal of history behind each breed. My favorite was the Thoroughbred!

I have always loved this book, even when I was just beginning to read. The text and illustations are marvelous. I love the way the author gave a story about every breed, besides telling basic facts about each horse. The pictures bring out the story and are very good. All in all, I'd say this is one of the best horse books out there for any age horselovers!

The Album of Horses is a really great book. I read it a long time ago, but I still remember how Marguerite Henry described every detail of the Arabian, the courageous story of the Morgan, and especially about Misty, the Chincoteague pony.Margurite is my favorite author, I've read all of her books. Also, the Album of Horses makes a great horse reference book. I LOVE IT AND MARGUERITE AND MISTY AND EVERYTHING ABOUT HER! And it should really be 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 stars, not only 5!

I own a first ed. of this book, and I still consider it to be the best written and illustrated books of its kind. The illustrations were reprouced with the inks available at the time and Dennis' oils would come out darker in some editions. I now own hundreds of horse and art books so I feel I know a little about them.

This book is all about the breeds of horses and has a story on each one. It has pictures, so it will interest children, but adults may also read it.
