5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my gosh... you have to read this!
Finally... a book on pregnancy from a real person. I hate all the books out there obvoiusly written by doctors or women who have never had a bun in the oven... and I'm a nurse! A very easy read, chapters are short and to the point. I'm not much of a reader, and I read the whole book in one sitting, it was too funny! Humor aside, it definitely addresses all those things...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good quick read
I think her first book was much more entertaining. I read this book in under 2 hours and was not as shocked or surprised about anything as I was lead to expect. If she is really the only person who wrote a book like this about pregnancy, then good for her. I don't know why other people hide this information. Big deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for all pregnant women!, Nov 19 2010

I read this book in one day. I'm expecting my first child soon and it was so great to read an honest book about pregnancy and all of the quirky things that come along with it. I enjoyed Jenny's sense of humour and honesty and I loved knowing I was not the only one out there with some of these symptoms and feelings. I recommend it to all pregnant women, especially first time mothers who are looking for someone to relate to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book, even husband liked it, Mar 11 2010

This review is from: Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About Pregnancy and Childbirth (Paperback)
When I learned I was pregnant, my friend let me borrow that book (in french). I liked it so much, it shed light on so many things, that I ordered the English version for my husband, so that way he would understand what I will be going through during the next few months. We both really liked it, and we refer to it many times when we aren't sure of some things. Jenny knows how to make pregnancy a funny thing... even though it really isn't that much!

2.0 out of 5 stars The voice does not go with the words!, Feb 12 2010
This audio book was my first try at listening to a book in the car. I don't think I liked the book that much, I found the first few chapters funny but then felt it was just a long list of complaints. Pregnancy isn't all that bad for me so I have a hard time relating. And the voice for this audio book is not Jenny McCarthy and sounds like someone who has never used foul language before which really took away from the whole book. Hard to laugh at "I am so friggin' miserable" when it sounds like a diction teacher saying it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but nothing special., July 17 2004
By
fingerhead (Madison, WI USA) - See all my reviews
Let me begin this by saying that I've always found Jenny McCarthy funny.

That aside, this book could have been so much better. Yes, it's refreshing to see a pregnancy book that discusses topics conveniently left out of most others. It just seemed like she threw the entire thing together in an afternoon. Or less. As I read each chapter, I kept hoping she would have written more or expanded on her experience.

Overall, it was very disappointing. I expected much more from her. Maybe the next one will be better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Belly Laughs if Full of Laughs, July 12 2004
I would start by saying the only negative thing is that the book isn't that long. I read it in one sitting at the park. McCarthy does an excellent job of telling it like it is and not holding back. If you're pregnant, considering it, a parent and are looking to laugh out loud this book is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the few pregnancy books I could stomach (literally), July 12 2004

Belly Laughs is one of the few pregnancy books I could stomach -- literally. Most will either scare you to death or bore you to death. Thank you for saving me from those two fates, Jenny!

I've always thought Jenny McCarthy to be a funny woman and with this book she proves it again! I was laughing out loud reading this book. My husband would ask what was so funny so I've read excerpts to him and he's be cracking up too! I have recommended this book to all my friends.
