5.0 out of 5 stars Lo Scarabeo hits a home run!
I wasn't sure what to expect from this Tarot deck, but as the owner of more than 185 various Tarots, I was prepared to be underwhelmed, despite the Italian publisher Lo Scarabeo's reputation. I was wrong. This is a beautiful, if odd looking deck. The style of the artwork takes some getting used to, but anyone familiar with the Crowley/Thoth decks will have no trouble...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so easy.. far from traditional
Very interesting deck, wonderful artistic work, but I do prefer the Dante Tarot from the same artist, also not traditional but so much more in touch with subconscious imagery.
Dante Tarot

It feels like too much thinking went behind the creation of this deck.
all cards have the astrological correspondences on them, if you know about astrology maybe you...

Very interesting deck, wonderful artistic work, but I do prefer the Dante Tarot from the same artist, also not traditional but so much more in touch with subconscious imagery.
Dante Tarot

It feels like too much thinking went behind the creation of this deck.
all cards have the astrological correspondences on them, if you know about astrology maybe you can enjoy.

The meaning really does not go with any traditional meaning.
For example the 10 of cups picture a women having sex with a donkey ! Where does that come from I could not guess!
The little white booklet cannot help... four key words for each card in five languages.
For the 10 of cups it reads :satiety, saturation, emotional over-flowing,bulimia.

And the card of the strength has become Lust ??
Plenty of violent and sexual images in this deck.
Full of creatures from different mythologies, some egyptian, some greek, some unknown to me.
It says in the introduction that this deck was reworked and developed by the Mediterranean Synarchy of the Astrum Argentinum...
A small group with big ideas for sure.
I do not recommend this deck for any beginner reader.
A curious oddity for collection maybe.

I was wrong. This is a beautiful, if odd looking deck. The style of the artwork takes some getting used to, but anyone familiar with the Crowley/Thoth decks will have no trouble reading with this deck. They possess a rich symbology, wonderful colours, and a somewhat eerie atmosphere. I'm not sorry I added this beguiling tarot deck to my collection. I highly commend it. In the game of Tarot, with this deck, LS has hit a 'homer!
