I ordered this tarot card set because I have a fondness for the work and art of Stephanie Pui-Mun Law (which I came across in the books of Legend of the Five Rings, a japanese medieval era role playing game). The set is absolutely gorgeous, as usual with Stephanie. Lots of details on the cards. The pictures come framed in a beautiful silver around the cards. also, it's slender (more on lenght than being large) so it makes it easy to handle. The cards are printed on sturdy cardboard, making them durable. It also has a nice booklet (not in color) explaining the cards (sometimes very poeticly). The only thing I'm a bit dissapointed in, is that to fit the cards and the book in the same box, it means that the box is too large to hold the deck. I would have appreciated to find a bag or a smaller box to get the cards in. Then again, at 21$, this is still a good bargain, but I would have paid more to have a little something included, I think. Be aware that this deck is not for the beginner: the cards are mainly based on the author's vision, and less on the regular symbols that we are familiar with. I consider myself at ease with my current tarot, but this one is not that easy and I used the booklet to get a feeling of the cards, instead of making sense of them just with my impressions.

I just did a full day of readings at a local charity event and used my new Shadowscapes Tarot deck. I am not a wishy-washy-pastel-colours fan, but this deck's artwork is delicate and airy while still feeling substantial. It gave great readings, every time. Each image has enough depth to go into lots of detail. I have large enough hands that it doesn't bother me, but it is a somewhat larger deck. Sitters had a hard time shuffling it without instruction. That's about my only complaint, and it hardly qualifies as a complaint. Tarot decks are just bigger than a usual deck of playing cards and take more getting used to. Bottom line is that I love the artwork (front AND back), love the depth of character and the artist's interpretation of the traditional card meanings, and I am really happy to have added this wonderful deck to my collection.

This deck has beautiful images and the best on tarot cards I've seen so far. The book is generic like many other companion books. Too bad this set doesn't include a drawstring pouch to keep the cards in. You'll have to buy separately. The box is rather flimsy and mine was a bit crushed during delivery from Amazon.
