I'm always on the look out for exciting new recipes for my canning and preserving adventures. This was a real find; the book is written by a UK author and so I would suggest it to North Americans who already have their preserving methods down pat. They do it a little differently in the UK so you have to be able to adapt, but I loved the unusual recipes that the book has. Have just tried the roasted tomato passata (basically a roasted tomato sauce) and it is divine. I grow a lot of tomatoes and by this time of year (September) I'm looking for interesting new ways to put them up, and this book has lots of great ideas, from ketchup to sauce to sun dried tomatoes.

I'm really enjoying this book! It's fun to browse and provides lots of unusual, easy recipes. I like the seasonal approach as well (the seasons and fruits are based on the UK, so are not exactly the same as in Canada). The author is very creative in her use of a wide variety of fruits and techniques, and she gives quite a few recipes for ingredients that are plentiful such as crabapples and rhubarb. The recipes I have tried worked well, and I have quite a few more on my list to try. Never thought I'd buy another preserves book, but this one is definitely worthwhile.
