Excellent Archaeological Adventure-Thriller!,
By
This review is from: Last Gospel (Paperback)
This is the first book I have read by David Gibbins and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I read the review on the Amazon.com website where one reader essentially criticized the novel for its lecturing on parts of ancient history, but with all due respect to that reader, this novel is, after all, a novel in the "archaeologicial adventure/thriller" genre. In my view, the detailed descriptions of history provided by the characters made for a very fascinating read. In fact, shortly after I finished reading the novel, my local city newspaper, THE OTTAWA CITIZEN, had an article by Simon De Bruxelles in the October 4, 2008 issue titled "Dig pinpoints where Romans came, saw and conquered England". You will have to read "The Last Gospel" to see the relevance. In any event, I found the novel to be well plotted and the story moved along at a good pace. If you like archaeological adventure/thrillers that contain a good dose of historical references, then "The Last Gospel" may be for you.
