Great little reference book!,
By Michael D. Nicola (Toronto, ON Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Figures: Red Series (Hardcover)
I bought this book just prior to taking a figure drawing class in college. While this book doesn't get in too deep with respect to the hands-on techniques of figure drawing, it did prove nonetheless to be a great little reference book throughout the class. It covers materials and media used for figure drawing, a brief look at figure drawing throughout human history, and various techniques for drawing including: composition, geometry, colour, and perspective. And because of it's diminitive size, it was ideal for keeping in my tool box whenever I went to class. If you're looking for a hands-on drawing tutorial, then this book may not be for you. But, if you need a good little reference that you can keep in your tool box (or back pack) or on your studio book case, then you should definitely consider this little gem! Well worth it, in my opinion.

Not very useful,

This book covers materials and techniques more than actual figure drawing. If you're looking for anatomical diagrams or reference look elsewhere.
